OH MY!!!!

It looks like they tried a cheaper route. I came to look at their restrooms today, and I see this. They hired someone with s pressure washer. It looks like a 3500psi had some fun on their grout. There's grout all over the walls 6ft high:yawn:

How do you get contract with walmart and the like? How do you price it so they will accept you? Places like petco, grocery stores have some nasty bath rooms..

They're nasty because they won't ever clean it correctly. How do I get contracts with places like that? I don't know. They originally called me because their manager is one of my customers. But it seems that they were too cheap to give me a chance on the grout. No loss here. All that was lost was the grout in that bathroom,

Because nobody else will do it.

How do you go about pricing it though?
I started with my normal tile pricing+ $.05sqft for late night work+$.10sqft for second cleaning with acid grout cleaner. Then I added 60% of the total for sealing the grout

That's why they wanted to get stupid and try it themselves

I was just wondering how the pricing would go for that commercial environment... I know that most places are cheap about it...they do not want to pay 1$/SF. That why I ask, because our very best is worth crap to them anyways. That being said, just work it so that it looks clean but no more while getting your money worth.

Welcome to Wal-Mart!
Acid washing reminds me of this guy I knew that had tiled a commercial kitchen with red quarry tile. It was probably about 500-600 sq ft. and it felt like 90 grit sandpaper on the surface of the tile. At some point, he'd given up on sponging the grout and left what was left for the next day.

By the time I got there, he had his crew working the floor with acid and grinders trying to get that grout off the floor. The smell of the acid in that room should have signaled OSHA from a mile away, these guys were wearing regular wood chip masks. I told him "no thanks" and left.

I bet the grout is still there in spots if they didn't just tear the whole thing up and start over, which is what he should have done, would have been faster.
Didn't know whether to laugh or cry for the guy.
