customer with white sofa , turning yellow/ orange due to excessive sunscreen .No lables but looked like polyester ,customer thinks it's linen. Question. Is there a particular method for cleaning this.
You need to find out what it is made of. Linen is a potential problem, polyester is safe to clean, but as an affinity for oily materials (like sunscreen), so you might need some different products.
Good. Just determine if it melts or crumbles. Because of how fabrics for upholstery are constructed, the details of color of flame, odor, etc are unreliable. You just need to know if its synthetic or if its made from a cellulose fiber.
Let me know, and I'll give you a formula and procedure suited to which one it is.
I wouldn't go that far. There is a lot of Asian fabrics made from cotton and rayon. Linen, I'm not so sure. But the consumer thinking its linen is not relevant. There are some fabrics where the "linen look" is printed on the fabric, and that print crocks off. Make sure you test for that too.
Customer phoned to tell me she's found a polyester made label receipt so the linen problems gone, then admitted she has tried cleaning it herself without success!. P
