They were and that is what we did when we were there, but it's more fun to walk and easier to stay together and meet up with the group if it's walkable
The beach area with all the good restaurants and bars was a good 20-30 minutes away. 5 minute uber ride is one thing....

We did the golf cart thing to get Lockhart Gelato and then Friday to Dennys for breakfast. Neither was that far so we walked back. Everything was so close it was really no need for a car.
Uber was $16.00 from the Airport. I don't know how they can work so cheap plus wear & tear on the car.
I gave him two tips:

Uber is awesome, especially in Metro areas

@Papa John , the Butler guy Darrell and myself shared a cab to the airport at 5am.. The middle eastern driver was pleasant and seemed that they're isn't much Mexicans who drive for them....
I think being a Cyote has better pay...

If you figure the amount they make in tips not counting cash tips, they actually make pretty good pay...
They have what they call "Surge"... It when there is too many calls and not enough cars, they can make up to $200 per ride even for short trips.. Lyft drivers get paid better "supposedly"...
It's a supply and demand.. I opened Uber at 5am and it had $30 ride to the airport.. I closed it because we were trying to snake the cab that was at the hotel for someone else.. I reopened the Uber app and it was $21.00 trip only 2 mins later.. So I think it's hit or miss..

Those self driving cars were crazy to see. Between those and FaceTime/Skype I feel like we are living The Jetsons. Who knew the stuff in that cartoon would become a reality. Soon we will be in personal flying mobiles.
