Curious if the dirt dragon is a quality product for PROPER hardwood floor cleaning...

Im curious is the dirt dragon similar to the rotobrush for air ducts, meaning its garbage and not the proper way to clean air ducts. Dont take offense air duct guys, just trying to get a comparison going.

Where does one get proper education for hardwood floor care? We want to add this service as a type of add on for our rug cleaning divisions.

NO, not worth it.

Crb, 175 and a Hard Surface Wand are all you need.

You'll need to be able to ID when a cheap top coat has been applied after the fact so your hot water does not lift it.

Don't get raw wood wet.

Cleaning will not fix scratches. Cleaning will not fix scratches

Charge for estimates, most will be a waste of time

Get a real wood guy to agree to pay a finder's fee for referrals.

Use compound when in doubt.

I have used basic coatings products for hardwood care. You can use rotory or OP on it. White or Red pad. Microfiber pad works well. I would say if you had to strip hard floor, using red pad and then use dirt dragon to clean it all up. Some use lindhaus machine or hardfloor wand. I always just mopped it up with neutral cleaner real well and flat mopped it with new floor coat(s).

J.R. I am pretty happy with the CRB machine I bought. It just does so many things, from dry nap fluffing to stripping. On wood floors it scrubs the thunder out of them with almot no water, while scrounging out the grain.

The important thing is that it is not limited to one function. I prescrub carpet, encap long hallways like mowing the grass, scrub tile, stone and wood and it does everything very well. Find some youtube vids on it, then pop over to Rick’s place to play with one:

Whats a good 175 machine that yall recommend for hardwood floor cleaning? And can we strip and refinish with it as well, if we decided to go that route?

Not trying to be a smartass here, but if it's a 175 you're looking for, you can find deals on Craigslist. I picked up a 106lb Koblentz for $150 and that thing is rock solid.

Well I'm on board. I bought the natura dri whatever the name is. That name needs work by the way for search engine benefits. I'm doing my first one in early February. I'm not looking to restore anything. I want to clean easy cherry picked floors to prevent the need of a restoration process. I've been cleaning carpets for over 25 years. I'm pretty confident in my abilities and judgement when to cut bait on a job. Without getting too complicated that's what the immediate target customer. I don't have a wood guy I trust or know but I will seek to build a relationship with one. I'm inexperienced with wood but I pulled a bunch of them while working at Serv pro. I'm going with the compound, my Brushpro 10 and my awesome hoover porta vac thing. I'm finalizing a quote on my liability insurance so I'm holding off any wood jobs . Instead I started a free 200 sq foot of wood floor cleaning. It's just for the members of the private fb group ...I have 5 entries so far. It ends Jan 31st. It's all neighbors and people I know around my small community. I'll have promo footage of my own pics, videos, comments and the names of the customers that didn't win. As long as I don't screw it up I'm good.

It will be interesting to see how that floor cleans up.

A great product to use as well is Squeaky Clean from Basic Coatings. The other chemicals are unnecessary with a decent neutral pH floor cleaner, but Squeaky is a great daily/weekly cleaner for your customers to use after your cleaning. Our guys carry it on the truck to clean-up after resi carpet/upholstery/etc. jobs during the nasty winter months. The best thing to come from us spending $2k+ on a Dirt Dragon that hasn't been used for 2+ years. Squeaky also works great as a final step after compound or neutral pH/hard surface wand extraction cleaning.
