Well after doing ALL BY MYSELF yesterday
8 couches,
16 recliner type big chairs,
6 large area rugs clean and move around to other sites in the building,
1000 Sq ft of wall to carpet with move, tab and block everything in those offices,
and 12 office chairs...

With a 300 foot hose run on each floor level (2 levels) in - 14 degrees below zero...

And being pissed off because new young hire did not show up and finally sent me a text at 3:48 in the afternoon that he just woke up as I am hustling my ass off to make sure don't freeze up and keep running....

This is my frickin morning...

Hands, back and legs in pain! PS...

New guy told he be done.... Frickin pansies these days!

Son in law Aron Jewett was busy moving into their new home otherwise would have been a tag team getting done!

Boy sending a text back at 7:48 pm telling new guy I just finished while sitting in the van....and tell him to come get his last paycheck Friday...and bring back his uniforms....

Priceless...

in 3 weeks he as been late 7 times...and couple times way into the afternoon before getting ahold of us....

Prevac just the entry area on the carpet
Pre vac uph ONLY if a dust bomb comes out when you whack it with your hand, and use the TM/Uph tool to do so
Uph gets pre treated with the same product as the carpet and with a Hydra Force
No pre scrub, just extra dwell time
Fels bar in pocket.
Don't get under the furniture legs wet.
Turn off cell phone...

We can't find decent help. Gennys about to fire another young girl who's always late and texting when she is suppose to be working missing a day a week.

I work alone all the time Mark it sucks but at least I don't get suprised by it. I do wish I could find just one good worker.

Lol, afternoon?:headscratch:

Again with the, afternoon! wtf...
Sound like the fellow lives at partytown. Maybe a video game freak.

Thing pissing ya off while working are the worst. End up being mad all day and more stuff goes wrong. My head would have exploded!

When my dad had the paving business(years ago), he/we would drive to the guys house who didn't show up and have a couple of his coworkers bang on the door/windows until the guy we needed got the fu#k out of bed.

Pretty funny watching a still drunk full grown man try to hide in his house so he didn't have to work....

Idiots.

Years ago I remember seeing an instagram video of an ex employee.

He was talking about his day and how soot covered he was from cleaning up after a fire. Then he dropped the bomb, "I can't wait to go to work tomorrow at Chavez Restoration...NOT!" :errf:

He called in and quit! Little bastard!

Gotta hand it to you, Mark. That's a hard day. And on the run. How do you keep the filter from freezing? It's about -15 F here in the U.P. Mich. Not as cold as you but my Butler filter gets ice in it. I've started putting a small electric heater on it to keep it warm while I'm working.
Good that your still busy.

I think you're crazy for tabbing under all those legs of the tables and chairs, and moving them also. It's not like they'll see any difference when the carpet dries. I know you like to be the hero carpet cleaner, but keep in mind, you're a carpet cleaner, not a moving company.

I got lucky again...really not very often have a filter freeze...

But did have when I used to do water damage during water extraction....so I would just pull the filter and clean the tank later....

It's crazy that we have a good amount of carpet cleaning next week.

And I am afraid to even approach some of my commercial jobs right now...

Not sure if I can pull them off at the moment with all going on....

I think I do need to comment here...in dire conditions of time...you kind of pick and chose as Mikey Mentioned so you can still get the job done and make the clients (and yourself and reputation) happy

I used the Rotovac Shear dry on the upholstery because of the agitation part of the head being more aggressive then some others....Also, for prevac of the upholstery...I did give it a wack and would also use the head and or the hose for most prevac to keep moving....Water in the vac line and not a lot of soils I was ok so not to hurt my vacuum pump with dry soils.

Time in this weather can make you keep moving...but honestly, I even let the hose sit with no water flowing for 10 minutes and never experienced a problem.

And luckily, all the upholstery was nothing fancy...just poly and microfiber, and the area rugs poly also....so pretreat was the same for all....and yes...really cheated and was in a position could spray heavy...again agitation was minimal because not too soiled...

This was a facility that was for children counseling so HWE over encap was an important factor (before throwing out the why didn't you encap it)

They wanted items moved...so I move items...Upper Midwest there is a lot more requests for moving and cleaning under items....Oh by the way...I got 50 cents per square foot for wall to wall and 75 cents per sq foot to buzz over the area rugs...

I got lucky and did not have to agitate carpets..one room could have benefited in an area with a CRB...but I had scrub brush which was way faster and one less piece of equipment to drag in... but if a CRB would have been needed, I would have brought it...

Prevac of carpets...I got lucky...the night crew had been in the night before and traffic had been light or not even occupied that day in those offices that morning.....otherwise...yes...Prevac would have happened...but time again. you would have to prevac a room quick...and get the prespray down, or even just keep water flowing with a hand tool or a connector jammed in your vac hose.

For cleaning, I was lucky the carpet wasn't too heavily soiled so I could pace the amount of water I used on this job. I was running a 10 flow on my Conway wand (Special jets) and upholstery tool normal small jets.

Kept the Butler on Medium (because cleaning upholstery, but the Conway wand made up for the 300 foot of hose as well as the extra 2.5 inch hose) I started with 110 gallons of water and went home with an 1/8 of a tank :eekk:....freaking lucky!!!!

So, yes...I did have to do my best "Hack" Job and still felt got great results.

Total bill at the end of the day just shy of $2800 those of you wondering...and not to make a I've got a bigger....blah, blah, blah....

So I felt really good as a one man crew pulling this off in what could have been a negative situation!

Now go hack away! :)

Wow. I’m glad you made it through Mark. This is why I’m a single cleaner after 20 years in the biz. Same thing happened to me about 14 years ago. I had a full day 6 jobs and my helper finally calls after I finish the first job solo and says he’s not coming in because he’s hung over. Lol. Wow! I mean I appreciate the honesty but wow! Been a solo show ever since.

We are still going to hire a replacement. Just too busy here typically not to.

I will still be on a van also but I also need to be free to travel as needed for our Saiger's Sauce line also. Or just when I feel like taking off... Lol

So I have to prepare for help and just work to recruit the right person

Lets face it, most carpet cleaning "companies" are owner operated because if your not getting most of the money... its a terrible job.

The work is hard, pay is usually relatively low, its not a career, usually no benefits, cleaning urine out of peoples homes, high expectations, etc etc

What I have found is that its critical to keep the days short, 2 jobs per truck per day and high end pricing... try to let them start around 9am and be off by 3pm.

Otherwise its inevitable burn out, but also our traffic conditions really dictate our hours of operation lol if your not heading home by 3 your ****** and dont even think about trying to drive anywhere at 7am

But it sure is refreshing to know that you can HACK it out like the best of us to save time when no one is looking!
And we all know (Wink wink) that everybody who comes on here and brags about multiple steps bla bla bla is a LIAR!
