Who has generator and current needs knowledge

Some guy I met has a new Champion inverter generator . (2000/1700 wt)
He won it in a raffle and has no use for it ...wants to sell it

I want to buy if it will suit my field use needs

I'm reasonably sure it's plenty to run a 15amp saw
But what about a compressor that runs more continuous duty cycle with framing nailer or a couple roofing nailers ??
will it hold up to that type use?
will it cook the inverter or pop the reset if someone uses the saw while the compressor is running?

I sure would prefer to load 50 pound gen instead of 200 pound 5000 wt when lectric isn't available or convenient

don't know John

they run on 110vt and have never tripped 15amp breaker when no other power tools running (shopvacs, saws, etc) are on that circuit at same time

My Amtex had a generator built in. It comes in handy for units with no power. I can prevac and crb using the tm for power.

My sapphire 870 is out of warranty now. It my be time to add a generator to it.

You can't run the air compressor and saw at one time. A small air compressor might run, but only small ones. I have a 2200 watt inverter generator for my travel trailer. It is handy, I have a bigger one now too built into my portable welder. I did run my orbot vibe off it one time, that surprised me.

Larry that will be on max power threshold using compressor and saw simultaneously.

If the size and weight is right just use one at a time and will be fine.

You don't need a generator. Just hook up an inverter to the TM battery. But the TM will need to be running to avoid draining the battery. Install the inverter as close the the battery as possible which keeping it in a very dry place. Use #2 or #4 welding/battery cables for this connection

Then the actually power usage of the saw is less then 15 amps.
Plug each item into this thing and check the reading when the tool is under load.

Starting current can be 25% higher depending on capacitors.

In Thailand I didn't need to keep the nail gun compressor on at all times when using the nail gun. Maybe you can get by with turning off the compressor when you need to use the saw for a few minutes? At least you won't have to deal with the bigger generator.

(the "normal" big heavy kind)
I use the 5000/4200 wt gen for jobs now and it handles compressor and saw running simultaneously

I'd like something lighter though.... that only comes with the inverter type
But I don't intend to spend a $1000 for a 4000/3600 inverter that will only get used a couple/few times a year at most

the bran new Champion 2000/1700 I can get for $300

According to the specs for that inverter, it will cover a single 15 amp circuit.

Is that a circular saw, or a table saw?

DId you use the saw and compressor in the past at the same time on the same circuit (15 amp)?

$300 is half what they cost new!

Buy it.

that can trip a breaker if/when saw is under heavy load .
Generally it would be the 12" miter saw

You could get two and run one as a companion doubling the out put.

hell no...I was there last week for lynch pins, extension cords and a cheap heat gun.
I don't buy too many power tools there though....found their compressors to be junk
and nailers hit 'n miss (a couple have held up, and a couple not)

surprisingly the harbor freight honda clone inverter gen is pretty damn good.

if you get the warranty it costs I think $30 more, but anything goes wrong you can exchange in store 7 days a week. Its $400 new plus cost of warranty.

Just keep in mind your gfcis on the Geny will trip at 81 percent load. The tripping willl occur even quicker once it heats up and trips faster..

That is why I asked what the manufacture considers the duty to be and what amps at that duty they say it will run.

Most generators are not full load full 100 percent duty machines.

You hadn’t mentioned the pinto till now.

I like inverters but you really need even a Honda 3000 just for 20-21 Amps at full duty(always running).

The 3000 is not light and that is why I mentioned getting 2 2000 and run together will get you the 25-26 amps you are looking for.
