I recently purchased both a 2007 & 2008 Butler units. In talking with Jim at Butler about service, he mentioned Chip Garber as a factory trained service person for these machines. I believe he said he is in Jenison Michigan.

Has any one replaced one? I have a 2006 with 1998 hours.

I have replaced on once....it had a small leak at the bearing joints on a 2008.

I mentioned it to Butler at a show and they had one waiting for me when I got home.

Took about 2 hours on a Saturday morning.

Take out front seat.

Take off belts front and back

Pull pulley off Drive shaft in back with pulley puller

in the front take off the air box and few bolts....

put it back in and line up best you can with a straight edge....put together in reverse order basically....(mine came with the clutch already installed on it)

Plug and play what I remember..

BUT...that's some pretty low hours to be having to replace that pulley.....something not quite making sense

Mine came with out the clutch. I cant get the clutch off, call them they say you dont have to take it off. We sent you a new one on the shaft ,no you did not, so now one is in the mail. There is no room to get a tool on the bolts behind the clutch. Mark if it took you 2 hours you are the Man. I have about 5 hours in to it and it is not out. And I cant see how I am going to get it out. At 67 I would just quit but i'm giving the biz to my two boys 16 and 19 so we have to do this but how. I would take it to some one to do it But who.

That’s the problem with butler, no local support.
To release the clutch you remove the medium(9/16” socket I think) size bolt on the center of the front of the clutch. Then use a large (5/8” bolt course I think) bolt with an impact gun to pop off the outer clutch (with the v-belt slots). Then you can get to those small bolts to pop off the inner section of the clutch.

You know, Since Butler leaves you stranded in the wilderness, they really should have detailed repair videos available for the poor souls who step out in faith
At the least instructions on paper. They sent instructions on how to remove the clutch. but not the shaft or the dog house on the engine.

That would be fantastic! Butler has always been there for me, yet to have a video for the problem I am solving would take customer service to the next level.

You must have a couple local independent mechanics that have a few guys and a great reputation

Have them put it on a lift and see what they say

If they can't help you, they'll "know a guy" that can

There is actually a pretty broad network of guys that work on the Butler. Ask Butler if there is someone in your area. My local supplier who sells all the regular brands will work on my Butler. I buy products there and they volunteered that they will happily do any work on my Butler. Just can't think of anything I would need them to do but... the drive shaft would be something they already regularly do with the other CDS brands they sell.

There is a big difference between “sure, we will work on that for you” and “we are a dealer for that, stock parts for that, have factory trained techs, see 10 just like that every month...”

Agree with you. Will take them a little more time and that is going to cost more. They won't have the parts. Those will have to come from Butler.
A drive shaft swap will be similar to what they are trained to do so it's an option...for those that need options.
