Looks like Ben at Amtex beat some of the big guys to the punch. He now has Ca CARB compliant Truckmounts.
My Dragon has that burner and let me tell you. It’s a heating son of a beeeaoch.I don't like the Kero burner but his inferno 500 is a pretty sharp machine
Way too hot and they seem to need a lot of maintenance from what I hear. I would rather have a little less heat and more reliability and ease of use.My Dragon has that burner and let me tell you. It’s a heating son of a beeeaoch.
Write to our government and ask why we can't import a Toyota hi ace without paying a 25 percent tariff. Yet they punish us with gas and carbon taxes. Time to think about shooting some politicians and oil company execs.I still dont get why TM manufacturers aren't using diesel or LPG (propane) engines, cleaner, cheaper running, longer lasting... ohh thats why![]()
I think it was Shorty describing a Hydramaster cds in a hi ace van with a 4 cylinder diesel. What a great vehicle for city use. You could make your payments on your fuel savings.I would buy the Toyota in a heartbeat.
Do you know if they have a custom fitting/parts to make them fit the hiace? The agents here say they've only ever fitted 1 pto unit in 15 yrs and dont seem to want to revisit it..I believe Gary Bethel had the first CDS mounted in a diesel Toyota Hi Ace van.
They are now very common down under.
My tm was an Australian made HydraVac with a liquid ring vacuum & three cyclinder Kubota motor, which I bought 2nd hand from Gary in '98.
Pic below was back in 2003 prior to refurb; & installing Big Wheels on the Cimex.View attachment 82895
Both tm & Hi Ace ran on gasoline\ from the vans tank.
All of my Hi Aces have been the smaller ones, about 10' load area, nearly 6' wide and the main reason, because I can get into garages under 6'6 high.
My tm was mounted across the van with 1/3 of the weight past the rear axle.
All controls were easily accessed via the side door.
Most of the other guys prefer to use the longer wheelbase & higher roof-line.
Actually, its more like 360k btu. And thanks for posting the old pics of my unit before it was replaced![]()
That picture was taken when it was pulled out at 541 hours. It has been totally rebuilt from the frame up. New everything and updated. It's a much better machine now. I keep it as a backup. The diesel makes my van smell like a WWII submarine.Totally forgot it was yours.....lol
How long did that thing last?

Those are perfect for city dwellers like myself. I saw a news item that Ford and Volkswagen maybe getting together to bring the transporter back to North America under Ford's name.I believe Gary Bethel had the first CDS mounted in a diesel Toyota Hi Ace van.

yesCan you control the heat generated out of the burner? No reason for it to burn so hot..
