I have been swamped but with the 4th of July I noticed things for next week have thinned out a little. I'm sure it will fill in but i'm not taking any chances. I have 17,000 EDDM mailers that i'll be trickling out. I'm tired of them taking up space in my garage and office. Today I sent out 490 and Thursday I'll send out another 970. These EDDM got me going when I had just started my business. I had zero customers and needed to figure out a way to get the phone ringing. I started doing $99 whole house specials up to 1,600 sqft with just my porty and Rotovac powerwand. Holy crap, that almost killed me. It did shoot me out of a cannon and I gradually started increasing my EDDM prices.

I don't really need to mail these out and I'm not terribly excited about the pricing, but my plan is to get the remaining 17k out and get so much volume going I can hire a helper and get him trained.

I get a pretty good return from my EDDM work with usually a ROI of 4:1 with the lowest being a 2:1. That doesn't take into consideration of all the repeats or referrals generated. I target the mail courier routes that make $50k+ a year. I track all my mailers on a map I have pinned to my office door. Each route is highlighted in different colors and all the demographic info for the route is written.

I'm at the point now where I really don't need to do it, but now it's more like a fishing adventure. Put them out there and see what I can reel in. Plus this last winter scared the crap out of me when the slow period hit. I made all my bills, but it was close.

Guy's, don't give me a bunch of flack about my pricing. I'm determined to grow my biz and get my 870 paid off before winter hits. More urine please!

If they show a little bottom boob, I'll deodorize the family dog.

That "Free" thing is just to get their attention. Free is the most successful word used in marketing. So I just threw it out there. It works. But like I said. I got 17k of these things to get rid of. Been taking up space for 3 years now. I don't care if I'm working cheap if I have an employee doing it.

The term "ROI" is often thrown about misleadingly.

It is NOT the ratio between an advertising cost and gross related sales. Chemical salespeople, among others, similarly misuse the term.

It would be easy to over complicate it. I guess I should also include the cost of my baconators into a days work ;). You know what I mean though. There are of course fixed costs with operating the equipment, but that is for each individual to calculate out. Not trying to mislead anyone. Just tracking business I would not have gotten if I did nothing.

I always felt it was easy to get the phone ringing. The hard part for me is to get the work done.

Good luck gearing up fast.
