Here's a rug that came into the shop. Jute and rayon. Are they making rugs from scraps now? Lucky it wasn't heavily soiled. Hosted it and out the door.

You’re more than welcome to come up Ron. Come for the sun, pool, clean some rugs, then a dip in the hot tub after....
Sounds good to me. We have a company here testing the waters trying to sell their rug cleaning equipment. Most by centrum force. Wash tub, centrifuge, 2 tumble dusters, etc. $125,000. No idea if that's a good deal or not. They want to sell it all as a package

Lucky it wasn't soiled is right.

The hand-loomed rugs have become a plague. The rayon and plant fiber blends are the worst, and the ones with a glued-on backing like you have there is the worst of the worst.

Any water on that rug will wick adhesive up from the backing and leave a yellow discoloration you will not be able to remove.

We refuse any that are stained, since whatever the owner did to remove the stain has already ruined it, and suggest they talk with the retailer if they weren't told the rug had to be considered disposable. Oddly, most customers know they bought something risky and just ask us to throw it away for them.

Yeah, we have been asked to 'dispose' of more rugs in the last few years than in the 35 years preceding.

Cleanworks B.C. Who are the guys who plan to sell their Centrum gear?

I'd rather not say online but I can pm you. They have pulled their ad right now. I think they are testing the waters.

A 5x8 will sell for between $300 and $1,000.

I'm starting to see these show up in overstock and discount shops, so maybe the high end sellers are starting to hurt from customer complaints and are getting rid of them.

I think there is a trend away from expensive Persian and other rugs in favor of less expensive decorator rugs. I have a customer recently (Iranians) who gave me 3 beautiful Persian rugs to clean and 1 polyester shag rug made by Natuzzi. They couldn't care less about the Persian rugs but we're concerned about the Natuzzi as that is their favorite.
