I honestly don't like having to go back to pick up equipment except on water damage jobs. I prefer to do what I call a G.O.C (general ordor control). A fogger or electric sprayer with a good smoke treatment chemical. I personally like Odoban (Eucalyptus or Fresh Linen) because it has Eucalyptus oil that helps lock down smoke odor on walls, ceilings, flooring, etc.
Home Depot has it in the cleaning section.

Yeah, I agree. Going back to pick up the ozone machine sucks. I have one out still in a little town called Shingle Town. I was too lazy to drive up there so I just let them borrow it when they were in town for a week with some instructions on how to use it.

That ozone machine is dangerous too! You basically should have a sign with a skull and crossbones warning people not to be in the area that it's being used so they don't pass out from lack of oxygen.
I was cleaning furniture for a fire restoration company in their warehouse. They had just pulled a sofa from a ozonated room into an open area for me to clean. As I was cleaning it I almost passed out on the floor. I took a break and let it air out a bit before I finished it.
Not a fan of the Vaportek machine either sold by interlink. It's supposedly uses plant oils to lock down and bind to smoke odors.

You have to learn to charge enough to make it worthwhile

Ozone.

Ozone has it's draw backs, slow processing time, damages rubber, must evacuate the living space but once you shut the generator off and introduce fresh air it can be re-occupied in 20-30 minutes.

Fogging chemicals into the air space that can linger (ULV fogger) for hours may not be your wisest choice of application unless the home or business is vacant or isn't going to be occupied for sometime.

Even them you need to protect yourself with proper ppe. The particle size out of a ulv fogger is so small you don't want to disinfect or deodorize your respiratory system.

Cover your ass when using either. Have a written statement of what you are doing. What can be expected and for them to stay out of the home until the airspace returns to normal. Have them sign a copy approving the process. Leave them a copy.

I recommend evacuating prior to occupancy for both the ozone and fogger. Hold your breath and pop some doors and windows.

Was just having this conversation with a gentleman the other day so I had the reference from the[at conversation fresh on my mind.

Funny enough I still went with a titan 4000 hydroxyl unit and the odor is now nonexistent.

How long do you have to leave it run to be effective?

If you are fogging, at least buy an electrostatic machine. Why? Because the droplets fly to and stick to ojects, clearing the air in moments.
That does NOT prevent them from evaporating back into the breathing column and choking you, though. Best practise is to apply enough product, then evacuate the space long enough to let it dry.

Richard is right I’m still running the hydroxyl in the building. So about 5 days so far.

I learned at connections, that the hydroxyl like higher humidity to work faster.

Knowing this we will start running the hydroxyl at the beginning of any water job that has any kind of odor as the hydroxyl supposedly thrives at 60 percent humidity and higher.

Have four or five calls for North Carolina but waiting a couple more days before making Th decision.

As of yet doesn’t look to bad in the mass occupied areas.

Going to ulv fog it Monday but not for odor, odor is now super gone.
