Wood stain on carpet

I have a customer with a wood stain on her stairs from leaving a wet wicker basket on them. I wasn't there, so don't know what the fiber is. I assume nylon, polyester or triexta. My experience is that getting wood stain out of carpet is a long shot at best. Is there anything new in this area that I am not familiar with that works reasonably well? Thanks.

I've tried to remove these several times without much luck, but what has seemed to work the best for me is the info on the Interlink App for stains.
1. Apply stain zone.
2. Cover with plastic up to 16 hours.
3. Repeat if necessary.
4. Heat treatment can be used with stain zone as a last resort but color loss is a possibility.

Hope this helps but you are more than likely looking at a patch job.

Swani and Cleanworks,

Thanks for your replies. I am familiar with both oxidizers and reducers. Have had mixed results at best with each. Can be more aggressive if it is solution dyed yarn. I guess I'll have to stop out and take a look at it. :eekk:

I would suggest cleaning with a solvent first. Then moving to an oxidizer (StainZone). Accelerating with heat is tricky. One can easily remove color that was not intended to be removed. I go the safer route and accelerate with UV light.

Is there a closet or hidden area with the same carpet? Easy to swap a piece large enough for a stair tread.

I need to take a dye class. So i can say, "yup, that aint coming out, its a re-dye job" . Those stains are to annoying to hassle with.
