Have an opportunity to buy a boxxer 427 for $1000 obo. Needs a coupler. I have heard horror stories about warped heads and great stories about great heat and power. Any thoughts?

I understand those engines aren't available any more.

wonder what's in this "kit"

here's the engine $2250

haven't clue if there's really anywhere near $1700 worth of adapters in the upgrade "kit"
the cynic in me highly doubts it...

I think it converts from water to air cooled. Not sure how the heat exchangers work.

Around 3800. They guy that I bought it from had new head gaskets put in at 3000 just as a preventative measure because they don't make that engine anymore.
Engine is still running apparantly. The coupler blew and he doesn't want to pay for the repairs. Sounds like a 47 blower. $1000 is probably worth just the parts. Also has a 100 gallon waste tank.

If you have time to do all these things ^^ to get that unit functional, then I’d suggest you spend that time working on a business plan instead
Part of what I do is buy and sell stuff. If I can buy something cheap and either fix it and sell it as a working machine or for parts, it's both fun and profitable. I made about $5000 last year doing that.

I am a bit of a junk collector but always have an eye for good stuff. Just a couple of examples, a few weeks ago, my wife calls me to tell me that someone has put a large hamster or other animal cage out behind our building. When I look at it, it's virtually brand new. Probably the hamster died. I take it to my shop, which is 2 minutes away and put it on facebook marketplace. It sold 2 days later for $95. A customer gave me a brand new rug, sold it for $100 along with an older rug for $50. I bought and sold portables and all kinds of accessories all through the year. I have an older Steamway mastermatic that I am repairing. Paid $500. Once it's done I'll ask $5000. It's a hobby that makes me a little money.
