all things being equal, nothing edges like a Kirby.

Never had the desire to.
Rolling it across the floor it just seemed like a overpriced, unbalanced hunk of pig iron.

They vac well
and are built like a tank ...albeit a WWII one which makes them heavy, over large and ungainly

There are modern equivalents with as good or better performance and ergos available today
The have by-pass motors, better suck, cogged belts and generally easier to clean and maintain

use it with confidence, or sell it one the few neanderthals left

Has anyone tried the Simplicity or Riccar tandem air vacuums? I think they would rival the Kirby with suction and vibration but has onboard attachments.

If you are going to use a Kirby might as well get a pile lifter and do it right.

I do not recommend...lose suction badly...

I agree

a pile brush is great for digging deep grit out .
But not so great as a vac IMO
They'll shuck sand in the trap, while leaving a piece of lint on top

we always went behind the PB with regular vac

They do their cleaning on the pull not the push. Used them in schools everyday without much issue. Had 60 and 70 yo ladies using them. Just had to dump the lint traps when they got full of paperclips because the ladies wouldn't bend over to pick stuff up.

Liking the proteam so far. Used it today at the dealership.
