SS870 running funny

During the week my 870 has started to run a little funky. While on idle it is dropping in RPM then suddenly surges. I was able to be in the back of the van while this was happening. During the lag times, l could hear a light clicking in the exhaust toward the rear area of the TM. The engine would surge and then everything sounded normal. This would happen off and on. My guess is the plugs are starting to foul. After all, its been about three years, probably time to change them. Pulled them and they look a little cooked.

Ok. She’s running as smooth as can be. I believe it was time for new plugs. Whew.

Just changed the air filter two weeks ago. I change oil every 200 hours in winter. 100 in the summer. Manual says every 200 hours, but we get really hot summers here (118° days) and that machine works hard.

She's running good now. Those plugs were ready.

My bad. I meant 200. It was 4 am when I wrote that. I keep my oil hours written down on a tag on my TM.

100 hrs should be the max hours on engine oil changes. If the manual says it or not.
