I was doing a commercial job today where a lady wanted her suite cleaned as I am doing the building. First thing she pulls out is her Krause warranty for her stain resistant nylon carpet. She wants it done by the book to preserve her warranty. I have powerburst mixed for cleaning the commercial carpet, technically, that would void the warranty. I ended up rescheduling her so we can do it properly at aprox double the price. She has multiple cat vomit stains on the carpet. I had to point out in the warranty where they are not covered. Most of the time, I don't think these warranties are worth the paper they are written on.

They aren't, but in your customers' mind, they are.

If they even think you didn't use the "right stuff", they would look for trouble. I find such people could find fly feces in a bottle of pepper.

I guess for twice the price you won't feel badly about going back.

And good move on pointing out the cat vomit stain. I went back and forth with the technical people at one of the better recognized carpet mills over a declined warranty for cat vomit. They absolutely would not consider it a claim for the people who had the carpet.

‘I find these people could find fly feces in a bottle of pepper’....
Yup, did one first thing this AM.
This is the second visit to the home in 2 months.
First visit, I assume was to ‘feel ya out’ as a company, and see if we were up to her standards.
Guess we passed the test, as soon as I left, just before getting to the next appointment, my office called, and told me she called and booked her husbands office building, and 3 rentals they own up the ski hill..
SWEET....

Good news Krauss no longer sells broadloom carpet. "Most of the time, I don't think these warranties are worth the paper they are written on." That statement is so spot on. We own a retail flooring store also and I had one of regional managers tell me, "The mills look at us like we are insane when we put in a claim where the carpet is more than 3 years old." There are also a million loopholes for the mills to get out of the warranty. The new thing in manufacturer warranty is 10 and 25 year non-prorated warranties, think Triexta and Shaw's new Bellera polyester.

I just want to wait 10 years and submit a claim on the carpet to make them waste their $4-500 on an inspection. The mills are always willing to hang the retailers and cleaners out to dry. It could be my little bit of revenge. I suspect they would start putting the onus on the customers to pay for the inspection.
