Devastator Wand Upgrade?

Getting sick of changing out these quick connects at $50 a pop after they start dripping.
What stainless fitting(s) should I use to replace? A union, or is there some kind of male to female fitting that will swivel to thread on?

I don't think stainless will make any difference. I would assume the leak is from the O rings, not related to the type of metal.

Maybe you can skip the QC and connect directly to the small manifold.

Yeah, but you almost never need to, so it doesn't seem worth it to me.

I NEVER do! They still start to drip after a few months.

Get a new set, just the QC's not the rest and pack the O ring with Anti Seize.


Or go hardlined.

Never have had any issues with mine either. I haven't sent out a alarming rate of replacements either.
It is hard to figure out why some guys have issues, and others don't, and I'm not picking or pointing fingers at any anvil or anything.
We have had a recent call for rebuild kits for the valve in the last few weeks.
50.00 seems kinda high, all have to check.

The reason for the qd's is to take the stress of the twist out of the lines, if they were not there then the twist would be going right into the manifolds, and probably strip them out....that would be anvils luck, and probably yours too.

I re-checked and it's more like $30 from Jon Don to replace, not $50, so I guess I was being a little over dramatic.

Flush out your wand with just water, no rinse, at the end of the day. Maybe your rinse agent is weakening the o rings. Just a suggestion

We have had many of those....of course on our Conway wands...and on the Swivel head PMF stair tools.

I have never had one go bad yet....

(and we do run Saiger's Rinse too )

Try loading up a brand new set of those connectors with high temperature silicone oring lubricant.

umm no, some yes but not any... Havent had an issue with those running Prochem All Fiber Rinse but I see it with some of the other off brands

Yup. The acid rinse eats the brass. I’ve changed out most of my brass on the chem stsyem due to evaporating/disolving brass.

As far as I'm concerned, acid rinsing is idiotic unless you are doing corrective cleaning. If you really feel you need to counteract the alkalinity of your prespray, use a neutral pH rinse such as prochems axiom extraction detergent. pH is 7.5-8.5, close enough. You will get better cleaning results and if you take a pH meter to the wet carpet 20 minutes after you finish rinsing, it will be close to neutral. Much easier on your equipment.

That will work ok.
You can also use caliper grease.
