I love homes with big laundry sinks, wet bars in the basement and standard normal sinks. I have one customer that has laundry facilities on each floor of the home. Makes things easy. Plus they have three dryer vents we cleaning annually.

I feel dirty just being around you people in this thread

I’m sorry Marty, that wasn’t meant as an insult targeting people without indoor plumbing. Nothing wrong with bathing in the hog trough. My great, great grandfather used to baptize people in them.

Then again, he knew Jim Jones when he was still called Jimmy and lived in Richmond, Indiana.

My way is much safer. Get a supply line and connect a garden hose adapter to it. Turn off the water to the sink at the supply line...hot or cold side. Connect your supply line with hose connector and fill buckets if you are a porty hack or if you are Mark and almost out of water to your Butler...connect your Butler garden hose to your supply line. This literally takes 30 seconds to do.
Ready for the pile on now.

What if it leaks after you put it back?

Why would it? But if it did...and it never did in all the many years I did it... Literally over a hundred times. You unscrew the garden hose adapter on your supply line and replace the leaking one.
Don't do this is your name is Marty...even though a screw driver is not required.

I have heard of those squashing some fancy faucets.
It is true that many homes have gotten away from the older style aerator and adapters do not work for them. For those homes, it is often easiest to unscrew the shower head and use a rubber adapter with a hose clamp to secure it over the threaded part. I always then create a loop down into the tub or onto the floor to give drips somewhere safe to go.

if I understand what you're doing ...

you're crawling under someone's sink??
and after "hundreds" of times, you've never encountered a stuck shutoff valve or leaky stem after it's been monkey'd with??

:headscratch:

My way is much safer.

maybe in Florida
but not in Ohio

I'd pull the washing machine hose before crawling under a sink to monkey with a 20-30 year old valve ad supply line

BUTT....the $4 dollar adapter that Lee mentioned is a MUCH better alternative

Was California. No crawling required.
If the shut off valve is stuck then... don't use that one.
Try another one...there are several in every home or office.
Or don't do it; I don't care, but if you need water it is an easy option.

Bob, I think what people mean, is that if anything goes wrong with that connection and it won't matter how long after and that it had nothing to do with you, you'll be blamed for it.

The same reason people bring their own water in winter freeze zones. Cause if anything happens next spring with that faucet or water line, guess who'd be blamed for it?

The last person to touch it.

Is it Damon-Proof?
No. But nothing really is...
Only watch the first 45 seconds.

This seems so easy to me. Seriously think it can save a job. Supply lines are 5 bucks each. Get a variety of sizes.
Like Lee I carry my water but I just watched a video where Mark was almost out of water in his Butler and was sweating it to the end...he made it but barely.

Mark is a rookie. Love-able yet a rookie.
It never happens to us sizzled veterans.

P.S. Did you watch Mark's video from beginning to end?
All 35 minutes?

I understand your point.

I never needed to do it on regular residential homes. Usually commercial where the outdoor faucet was broken or too far away. It is a solid connection to the garden hose so you can operate your truck mount for those that don't carry water or are running out and can't get to a regular garden hose connection...which also fail regularly...especially in cold climates where I have also operated. An option.
