that is one third (or at least representative of)...it leaves the center third without the second flush
1/3 of the width of the wand. Your wand is 12 inches wide. 1st stroke is against the wall. 2nd stroke, move the wand over 4 inches. 3rd stroke, move the wand over another 4 inches. Repeat until you reach the opposite wall. The majority of the carpet will be flushed 3 times.

Anaian 1/3rd is different.
A Canadian 1/3 is no different than 1/3 from anywhere else in the world. Ron knows how to clean. He’s been at it for just under 4 decades...
I’m sure we all feel we know how to clean, it’s just a matter of opinion.
If we all stay under 5 call backs a year, I’m sure we all are doing just fine...
Shark teeth aside, some clients have been programmed to believe that it’s not cleaned until it smells clean, they see the ‘teeth’, while others are programmed to believe that clean means protected, groomed, and deo....
It’s simply a matter of the ‘clients’ opinion....

5 callbacks a year, you better find another profession.

Sure, I'd give you a raise since you're making more than me.
‘This is a business about relationships, a lot more than it’s about skill’...
that’s what I remember more than anything...
The second business I took over, 7 1/2 years ago...
It’s something that’s stuck with me more than anything else...
I’m simply trying to create something that can be replicated....
Tomorrow, we shall begin again, and build on what we have learned today....
The little things I’m trying to not only teach myself, but to be able to build on what I’ve learned.....
We are our own worst enemy....
Conquer that, it becomes EASY....

What I don't understand are the guys who rotary everything?

I'm sure they do a good job but I couldn't justify the extra time needed.

And the customers of mine who could afford the extra charge, are customers who would never need a rotary extraction?

I have often seen other cleaners use a zigzag patern wand stroke with the solution on at all times. Then they may go back over the section they cleaned with a dry stroke.

If you leave the solution on during the forward stroke, then pull back at an angle, move forward at an angle, and so on, overwetting would seem to occur since there is no extraction on the forward triangles stroke, and there will likely be a puddle left at the back end of the stroke.

As I was watching a cleaner with different wand and equipment than me, I noticed his two jet wand was not putting out much flow and the jets were high of the carpet, so maybe that is why he is able to get by with that stroke. My wand has 5 number 2 size jets set low to the carpet, so about 2 1/2 times the flow and more impact. Also heat exchanger vs. kerosene burner.

I pull backward with the solution on, then release the solution trigger a couple inches before I complete my back stroke in order to pick up the spray rather than have a puddle left that does not get extracted. I then move the wand forward on the same path without the solution spray on, then repeat in the same path a second time and often a third time. When I am through with the cleaning strokes, I do a forward and back dry vacuum stroke rather than wait to dry stroke the cleaned area later, overlapping an inch or so in case there is a little moisture left at the side edge of the wand. then I move over and start another straight back and forth path, and so on.

I tried to attach a video of a 68 year old friend using my equipment. He has never cleaning carpet before. What do you think of his technique?

Don’t judge his posture. :)

My biggest bitch really is about the crazy wand strokes I see. How can you properly clean/rinse the carpet when you never let off the trigger and your stroke is all over the place.
Leave em alone will you....they help increase the better cleaners bottom line.

I call sawtooth patterns the lazy way. You're cutting your dry passes in half, not extracting as much water as you should be just to save a little time and energy. Quit eating all that junk food and pull that wand back straight. Damon especially. The dude has A WINDOW on his wand. He knows it still shows water, yet he likes his 3rd grade triangles

You're wrong, you fooking hack who can't see straight. Who wants to see those saw tooth marks. It means you're not extracting enough. Up and down over the exact same area. Not does it look better but you've removed more moisture. You know better Fred.
Who?????......I'll tell you who.....those little old black ladies in the ghetto who want to see that every little square inch of the carpet has been cleaned.....THAT'S WHO!

Minimum 3 wet passes (5dry) generally 5 wet/5dry plus 2 slow dry passes leaves almost no water in the site glass.
On Trashed carpet, the the 360i bh, I'll do 3 wet passes 1 dry, then follow up with the wand. 1 or 2 Wet pass, 4 dry passes.
This has really slowed me done, but the phone is busy. booking 2-4 weeks in adavance.
I recently raised my prices and happy about it. Im moving into semiretired phase. I'm working at a comfortable pace and not worrying about growing my clientele base, which is more then I can handle.
