That's a looser all around. Sorry you got into it. I do vct when I have to because alot of my janitorial accounts have it in the contract. I have the right tools and still don't like it. The good news is you learned something. Black pad and a side by side. Or your vibe. Slop the stripper on with a mop, let sit for 15 min, scrub with the black pad, slop some more stripper on, let dwell for awhile. Scrub again. Mop the stripper around again. Eventually, after longer than you think, shop vac it up. I doubt you will get all the way to tile but you can "strip it clean" as some janitors say, lay some wax, and hit the road.

I don't think it's as bad as Damon's making it out to be. It's freaking restaurant grease on top of some wax, making it look much worse than it really is. The dude used a freaking carpet cleaning buffer OP with a diaper and a red pad. That crap is made to get the encap into a cut pile of carpet...Not breaking up the wax on a grouted floor.

Quit giving Damon advice and tell him to get a good old fashioned 175 and do the job right.

I told him to call a Janitor company and pay them to fix it. He's already lost money on attempting to do it. Now he's gonna go back? Screw that. Pay someone to do it right and go back to work on what you know how to do and start making money again and write it off as a loss. The hell if I would lose MORE MONEY by wasting more time trying to get it clean when I could go make money on my good jobs waiting for me.

You guys gave me hell when I thought about buying a garbage truck, selling vacuums, and probably something else. Which I DESERVED. It slapped me in the face with common sense. Quit rocking the baby's crib and tip his crib over to wake that idiot up.

I love me some Damon, but when he's this stupid, trying to show off his forum fancy OP, he needs to wake up.

Ok Mr Smarty Garbage Man, Explain to me why a 106 Lb 175 is better than a Orbot Vibe that weighs 95 lbs with an additional 40 lbs of weights? I get the black pad over the red pad concept. Working in tight spaces like bathroom stalls, the vibe was much easier to control.

Not all stripping pads are equal. Find the thinner ones that are real stiff. They don't flex like some of them.

We use them on baked on Crap in ovens and it removes it with ease. It's amazing what the right pad will do.

Strong solution around toilets and a doodle bug pad. Soak it and let it dwell while you work on something else. Finish it up with mop and green pad.

Don't move on from one area until you figure out your system. Start with the hardest area first so once you figure that out the rest will be easier.

No you meant someone else but it think it’s the Constant movements in one specific area so that weight isn’t bouncing around and it’s concentrated, and I think the 175’s design just generates more torque

I’ve used both on same jobs and hands down 175 even for tile and grout I grab the 175

because the Vibe does not turn, it just oscillates and does not create the same sort of friction or heat needed to strip.. and you can't heal it.

Damon, a few thoughts

I think this has been covered, but with all the outpouring of support (and some good natured slaps on the back of your head), I just want to make sure you keep these points in mind:

1. Always test for floor finish. This lesson probably will reinforce that, but its something that just takes a couple of minutes, and it could have prevented all of this mess, stress, and wasted time.

2. Never extract emulsified floor finish into your truck mount. I know that many get away with it, but this is from a guy who has a service department that fixes truck mounts: Floor finish has caused thousands of dollars in repair costs for guys who have used their machine for that purpose. You'd be better off buying a wet dry vac and throwing it away when you were done with the job than to let your machine be damaged.

OK. Now go back to "flushing the carpet toilet" on rental properties and get this one behind you as soon as you can.

I use an old portable for picking up the stripped slurry. Strip with a 175 with black pads and flush away the mess using neutral cleaner through the portable. Old portable, old wand, old hoses but it still works. You can find a lot of used portables on cl for $500 or less.

Hi-pro pads. Sometimes, they are so stiff, they will #glide over a floor, which I believe it might do on that quarry. But, true they are more aggressive.
