The van as a whole looks well taken care of, the tm itself (from the few pics) seems clean and presumably maintained. it has 2400hrs, and 170k miles on the van. It used to be Kirk Saiger's until about 2yrs ago, which I hope would mean it was well taken care of, at the very least until it was sold to its current owner...

but of course, I am not dead set on a butler, I'd be open to any good TM that will get me going!
See if you can persuade mark or Kirk, (maybe pay them a little) to go over the van with you and give you a professional opinion. I know sometimes mark will do it for free because he's a nice guy but his time and opinion is worth a lot.

That's a good, but expensive idea... unless I was buying a butler off of one of the Saigers... the van I'm talking about is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, about a 4hr drive for me, and easily 6-7 I would imagine for Mark... but there's always a chance...

Doesn't have to be Mark or Kirk but has to be someone familiar with those machines. You have to test drive the van, check tires and brakes, (that can be $1000-$1500 right there or more), hook up the machine and test pump pressure and vacuum, check for leaks, etc.

Yeah, I knew I would have to do all of that. Having someone who knows what they are doing would be nice. I just don't know anyone, and I would feel like a dirtbag asking Mark to do it for the little amount I would be able to give him in return...

Offer to hold his video camera for him, and he might do it for free.

If you do look at a TM
Make sure the Yahoo never let it freeze up...
Do a air pressure ck on the HX at least!
If they don't have an air comp ...
Take a bottle of compressed air with ya...
It's important ....

Good idea! is there a specific way to do it? or just find a way to connect a compressor to the hx?

You'll do the same by hooking it up and check for leaks. Leaks at quick connects are common and not a problem. Make sure it's not leaking internally and that there is no water running over the floor. If a brass fitting is leaking, it's probably because it froze. Same for the heat exchanger. Bring a flashlight.

My gawd, next weekend, I’ve got 200 chairs to clean at an individual price of 18.50 each...
In the right setting,
THEY ARE INDISPENSABLE......
And I sure ain’t planning on hand buffing ANY of them...

I've heard Chip Garber''s name mentioned several times as a guru on the Butler units. He''s in western Michigan I believe.

I’m not a big fan of direct drives, but since you are up in Michigan, i think that’s your only type of truckmount you should get, for the main reason of operating the machine with your doors closed to prevent freezing.

the cleanco and Hydramaster would be my two to choose mainly because of the amount of space that’s available.
