Scale has nothing to do with the fact that round things have sides.

Experience. Twist the handle.
Clockwise= right side down, machine pushes reverse.
CCW= left side down, machine pulls forward.
When I was young and dumb(er) I could ski across a floor of stripper behind a 320 rpm Clarke to amuse the kids.

I don't think I'm following what you are saying. I am referring to the motor itself, with a switch on it to reverse direction of the planet gear for the pad driver.
My Husky machines operate with trigger/momentary switches, but I have ran machines with a twist on/off.

That would be a terrifying moment of truth if you ever forgot which position the switch was in, and the drive block would fall off...lol
You would STILL have the left-handed version of any problem you had with the standard rotation.
Kind of like wanting to have a car with a reversed steering wheel, "to help you park".

Ha! Your absolutely right! That's why the concept in question would have a three position switch F/N/R. And no, the drive block doesn't fall off.
It would take a special skillset to operate this unit, as whatever your brain knows about running a 175 in the standard counterclockwise motion, you would need to reprogram your grey matter to think and do exactly the opposite to master clockwise rotation.
Probably best left to the real experts of rotary cleaning with a 175. As you can see from my avatar, that would be me!
