Hi,
I've just had my carpet cleaned and this was the out come.
Is it normal to have some many ripples? Also the carpet is soaked.

It's not normal but that's fairly common actually.
Even if the cleaner had not over wet it, a properly installed carpet that doesn't have enough tension on it will ripple like that..

Believe it or not, it will dry up and the ripples go away
You might want to go and rent some water damage fans and speed up the process so that you eliminate the risk of mold growth

Call the company back to extract the water and set fans. Your sub floors are being damaged too possibly.

is the idiot who caused this capable of fixing it?
They should come back and see what they did. They didn't even get all the spots out.
If it's soaked it should be recleaned when dry by a reputable company.

It does happen and when it dries it will go away. It is like when you are in a bath tub and your finger get wrinkled, when dry it is gone. The to is wet and expand the bottom is no as wet and expanding as much creating the wrinkles. If it take more than 12 hours to dry then he got it way too wet.

The majority of times, the wrinkling is caused by poor installation. They probably didn't use a power stretcher. The carpet may have overwet it as well, which doesn't help. Properly installed carpet rarely wrinkles. If the carpet was heavily soiled, it may take up to 24 hours to dry. If it's wet after that, there was something wrong with the cleaning system. Let us know how long it takes to dry.

Normal, especially for a daycare environment where there is a lot of foot traffic. The carpet relaxes after a couple of years and as soon as moisture hits it, it bubbles up. I've see this happen immediately when sprayed by my HF sprayer. I then know i'm in for a wild ride and need to educate the customer whats about to happen. I can see your hallway is a nightmare install. It's hard to get a proper stretch on a carpet when there are so many door ways to cut in, especially after install and the seams are attached. Then there is a the main room. A carpet should be stretched from 7 different steps/directions. I would bet money the installer just slapped that carpet down, got the check, and had a nice day. If the carpet is glued down, then it can't be stretched. What happens there is after time the glue wears out from constant walking on and kids driving toy trucks around. The glue becomes a fine powder. This a booby trap waiting to happen for carpet cleaners. The only way to fix this if the bubbles remain after dried is to inject glue in the bubble areas and roll the carpet back down with a weighted roller. OR, pull the entire carpet and reinstall.

Most likely the carpet will settle back down once dried out. Please post a pic in a few days. This is pretty common.

Upon closer examination of the pic, are there even any tac strips used on this carper? Seeing how it's curled up at the glass doors make me thing no.

I have seen those type of ripples many times over the years on carpet that was properly cleaned and extracted. I can remember one from 20 or so years ago that looked very similar to the above picture and it was a direct glue down. 24 hours after the cleaning it was fine. Give it 24 hours and it will, in most cases, disappear though I have seen it take a few days to tighten back up again.

Was any type of protection was applied after the cleaning such as 3M Scotchgard? If so, that could explain the "soaked" feel. I would expect that also to be completely dry by the next morning.

Me too. It happened in my #1 account the first summer I was there 35 yrs. ago. Kinda scared me. I was a worse hack than now, but I knew it wasn’t my fault. Hey, ya gotta be able to clean it. But, what Damon said.

Let it dry 24 hours you should be fine.
You may want to talk to a qualified/professional rug installer
to re-stretch the carpets. Most of the edjets on this sight wouldn't
know wool carpet if it bit they're arse.
You have what looks like nice carpet poorly installed or in need of a stretch.
What concerns me more is the lack of tabs and blocks.
Feck off all you haters!

little doubt it started to buckle before they were done .
No clue how wet it is, but as Damon mentioned, I've seen some start to buckle with just minimum pre-spray

we always left airmovers overnight when they buckled

I would be more concerned about how wet it is and the damage it could cause.

Also, partly because it is a commercial continuous loop./ Has different backing and face fiber types running through it , resulting in differing responses/swelling. to the moisture. ? I have noticed , usually if this happens to me, it is on stretch in contiuous.

I think this has caused every cleaner a sleepless night at some point in their career. It should go away.
My question is you said YOU just had your carpet cleaned. are you a cleaner or a homeowner?
