Do we really need peroxide in our cleaning?

For the last 6months...I haven't' ordered any 12% and my powdered peroxide has sat on the shelf. I rarely mix it in anymore, since I've been using more acid in my magical formulas. I just got tired of the peroxide weakening while it was in my truck, so I found other avenues to fill in the need. And besides some spotters that are used for stains...is peroxide really needed?

I don't think so.

Ive tried to tell you to use a 2-3ph acid rinse @16:1 for urine. If it works for your wool rug shop...use it on synthetic. It works great for me

depends on your customer base, I dont normally carry more than 5 litres for stain removal and enough to boost 1 houselot (both last me about 2 weeks)

was glad I had enough to boost last job of the day yesterday, rental that I could of got looking the same with a rotary but more time consuming

80's nylon in lounge and dining, wool in 3 bedrooms, always a good time when the carpets mismatched lol

That grout looked brand new after. No agitating or any alkaline Prespray.

I understand it’s needed for blood, plant stains, and 3% for some wool and natural fibers.

But that’s about it

I only use the powdered peroxide’s with dry slurry if I’m using a rotary on a stink pit. I like the Chemspec UPT for urine and organic spotting. Although the instructions on the bottle will have you using way to much. I keep an Chemspec H2O2 (Can’t remember the name) spotter on the truck but I don’t use it much. Probably wouldn’t miss it if I didn’t have it.

we used to get baquacil from pool store but it goes dead, then we ran with OSR and just did the powder for a long time. Went back to liquid.

Lately bad dog has been great, really easy to get at jon don so I dont need to buy so much that its going dead but either way I have 4 bottles in the truck and they are still super active sitting for over a week in a hot truck. bad dog is $20/gallon and strong enough

I think its a must because it really makes light colored carpets bright at least for a while... and wipes a lot of stains without having to spot. Simple grease eraser + bad dog is a savage combo, adding a tiny bit of saiger mango to that mix and loving it

How many ounces of deodorizer do you guys add to your rinse and what do you meter it at? I just guess and throw in three cups of Saigercide metered at 3 gph. Not even sure if thats enough or too much.

I think the overuse of peroxide products leads to premature fading and discoloration or nylon carpets. I use peroxide encap products where I have lots of beverage spills but just regular encap elsewhere. Same with hwe. Peroxide as a spotter, not as a prespray.

I do like peroxide for treating pet homes. I fill my hydroforce with a peroxide based pet treatment and spray all the carpet and soak the pet spots. Let it dwell and come back and hit it all with BioBreak. Rotary it and leave fans behind. I have also used Fabset instead of the peroxide for the 1st treatment but it doesn't get the yellowing out like peroxide does but both do get the smell out.

My results over here with any USR including bad dog are opposite. It's nothing more than vol40. And since I've been using more acid rinse (3-4 on the chem meter), I'm getting more of a brightening image.

Peroxide is used to brighten cotton laundry, not plastic synthetic carpet.


There's another point that I want to bring up. It's a question that I've asked some of the soap salesmen that was never answered.

"Does the peroxide weaken or cancel out when mixed with a high alkaline rinse while being used to
"boost" it?

Remember the ph lesson in the class? The same lesson that teaches us how to neutralize urine salts back into a liquid? Is it the same idea as to mixing an acid based peroxide into an alkaline prespray?

Does it neutralize the prespray closer to 7 due to it's acidity in the peroxide? I've NEVER had that question answered.


Is it the peroxide that does the brightening, or is it the acid rinse?
