I have a customer who has spilled a gallon of kerosene in the floorboard of the backseat in his new Ford pickup. He called 3 days after the spill happened, so it has soaked through the carpet and spread out across the floorboard, probably under his seats, etc. Any ideas how to remove it all or should he just replace the carpet?

I agree with Jeff. It will be tough to get the smell off of the paint, wiring bundles, rubber plugs and grommets...

I was thinking replacement because of the volume and spreading out as it did, but I wanted some backup on that. Thanks!
You can get the bulk out, maybe even approve the appearance.

However it might take years to completely rid of the odor. On a hot sunny day getting into the car you'd probably still smell it.

In fact they could still have an odor issue even with replacement. A gallon is a tremendous amount, it can get into pockets and channels not reachable to clean.
