Looking for some input on Insurance Companies you use for commercial auto and general liability policies.
Currently w/Farmer's but curious what's the best/cheapest you have used.. My rates seem HIGH!

Thank You!

Not sure about rates with Farmers but I've seen the way they handle claims. If you stay with them don't ever turn in a claim.

If I were you I'd find an insurance broker for commercial insurance. He will shop your coverage for the best deal amongst several companies. Not only will your rates be better but your coverage should also be much better.

Look in your local community. I don't know if you do much business networking, but check out a BNI group, or hit up some Chamber of Commerce or Home Builder's Association events. You should find several agents who are active in these things. You'll hit it off with at least one, and use them.

I have Farmers and my rates are high. But they are the only ones that will give me workmen's comp without a pre-existing 2 year old policy if I want to hire a helper. Their comp is way cheaper than the state funded comp. I've heard their audits can be hell though.

Here in Pennsylvania, I searched high and low many years ago and found only one insurance company to offer a replacement cost policy on my Butler System. I have a standard business auto insurance policy on the GMC van $1749.00 per year and a commercial inland marine policy that covers the Butler at 100% Replacement at $711.00. Both policies are with Liberty Mutual. I never had a claim on this policy but my rates consistently go up every year.

You’re audit will only be what it is. And, being a sole proprietor, there’s a maximum they will automatically charge of payroll on your policy. Any additional payroll will be where the audit occurs.

Per your first words, each state is different and not every carrier is in each state. But, each carrier complies to insurance service office/ISO
standards of coverage.
