Its sure needed around here. Most homes have wood & tile and carpet only bedrooms.
I like the layout in some of the new homes. Easy jobs, 3 bedrooms up, hall and stairs for $250. 1.5 hours work. I hated when they used to carpet right up to the door. You do a great job with everywhere else but can't restore the worn out entry way. Spoils the rest of the job.

Love it! I see two sides to this coin. Obviously, this is some finely crafted marketing hyperbole. And if the product gains traction it will invariably produce some unrealistic homeowner expectations, much like the Stainmaster of yore. Yet, it could also help to jumpstart the sluggish residential carpet industry. How many in this room would like to see residential carpet make a rebound? I for one would love to see that happen. So we as an industry will just learn techniques to deal with this new product, as we've done all along, if and when it makes a splash.

According to the carpet industry, the percentage of carpet floor covering went up in 202o. The first time there's been an upswing in decades.

I can only assume that the home, office, gym, school, movie theater... shows the advantage of quieter, less Swiffer intensive floor covering.

Yes about the same period as Kawasaki syndrome.
Virtually no adhesion . I was applying Fibershield to designer clients. As well as Stark, Vsoske, Edward Fields, Schumacher. 111 trychloretheleyne carrier, dried in 30 minutes. Really created a barrier. Worked on the white Haitian. Back when you needed to know some chemistry or you’d own designers furniture

I mean the expectations and behaviors of our customers, based upon how the product was marketed and sold.

In the midst of the hard surface revolution, Stainmaster has found another life as Stainmaster Pet Protect.

When you have the time, you need to both read what's presented, and even more, what's implied, in this marketing material.

I have my own thoughts, but would appreciate yours first.

I think this whole subject is best summed up by my favorite spokesman, Mr. Churchill “Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.”

As I recall it was 1986 that a commercial for stainmaster ran for 2 weeks. A kid in high chair spilled a plate of food all over the carpet. I think the commercial won an award. Right away the public was clamoring for the product. No longer needed the commercial to run.

Putting a warranty on the carpet for pet stains was a mistake and eventually that part of the warranty was removed. DuPont would send cleaners out to try to remove the yellowing with Steam Way Formula 601. A second product was Steam Services UPT but it was not as preferred. Not always successful with either product.

Masterseries was a good protection with die blockers and offering it to potential customers who called would help you sell the job over a cleaner that didn’t use it, and of course it also made you more money. But for some reason many cleaners rejected this. Maybe they didn’t like becoming certified to apply it correctly.

Stainmaster was a good product to be sure, but it was over hyped.
