I was using my CRB today in a polypropylene Berber style carpet that not only was trashed but had thick black spots from who knows what. It took a ton of scrubbing back and forth in different directions to make any impact. Just wondering if I could use a tile brush or would that damage the rug. Not that you could damage this rug anymore.

Do you have a 360 you could use on it?

The tile brushes could damage carpet fiber. They'd also load some extra torque on the machine which might possibly damage the unit. I'd stick with the blue brushes. You might also try going with a stronger detergent and/or more dwell time.

Spilled ash trays. Normally some of that carpet is burned from the cigs. I say turn up the chemistry and use some more aggressive chemicals

I was using code Red. Did an amazing on most but these sticky spots were trouble. Probably should have brought my 360. Needed to dig a little deeper. Maybe my brush is wearing out.

I know you know roto scrub is vastly superior Ron.
it's for the pack followers that are wasting time on carpet with a CRB for anything but digging fur out of cut pile

cause they're barely above a grandi-groomer....

I like my CRB for those reasons but when it's really nasty, nothing out leans a 175 or a rotovac 360 with a brush head. My mistake not bringing out the heavy artillery.

I have a 175 I've used to put a shine on cement and terrazzo, and strip vct.

When it comes to carpet I don't think any rotary can touch my 360 or Trinity. Both are made for carpet, and do a great job.

I haven't tried 175 on CGD, so I can't say. To be a fair appraisal I would need to try 175 on carpet enough to know its strengths and weaknesses.

This is b4 and after from Trinity on CGD I did today.

Dark areas on after areas hasn't dried completely. I'll go back when I get a chance for a dry pic.

When I use a 175 on carpet, that's just the prescrub. Followed by hwe.

I'm lazy, I just use the Trinity. Wet pad after prespray on heavily soiled areas. All areas with Glad pad after that.

Just one electrical cord.
Love the ease of it.

Pads are expensive though.
In homes it's the 360i, even though I hate all the cords and hose management.

When I think one way is better, I realize I haven't mastered what I conceive to be the inferior tool.

It's good to have a wide variety of experience to draw from on this board.
It's great to have options!

The old adage of "When you only have a hammer everything looks like a nail" rings true.

When you don't have the proper or more effective tool, you're limiting your results and justifying it with "That's the best that can be done for it".
It maybe with limited tools.

And carpet cleaners are like golfers, always looking for a better driver and putter

you can argue which machine all you want (although I prefer a CRB for many reasons). Its the chems. I use a standard prespray and carry a small spray bottle of citrus. Any spots that dont are not removed during pile lifting I hit with a spray of citrus, then scrub. with the exceptions of ink, rust, etc. everything comes out. then just rinse with the wand. Easy peezy.

I disagree. Highly!

so what?
No offense intended, I promise, but you're a janitor and pt time CC'er with a porty and a steel porty in a van (Bane)
and you also think Cimex yields great results

speaking of...
have you tried encRap with a CRB next to Cimex?

any idiot can clearly see the difference

I rest my case....

And 175 will scrub, but why?

it's called a scrub and rinse/flush extract.

This board, as the others, promotes tools and equipment for the sake of further discussion, which is a boards lifeblood.
Keep this in mind when you find yourself buying tools.

guys love 'em (especially old guys) because they're light compared to rotary or Cimex (which is a rotary scrub action).

but they don't shear sheeit compared to roto, that's why no one with half a brain uses them for encRap .
If they don't work for encRap, why would anyone thing they do any good at agitation?

they're for digging fur or working solvent soaked corn cob "sponges"

The CRB does a great job on most but sometimes you need the weight of a 175.
