I’ll help you put it in perspective Larry. My grandson (14) attended a classmate, track mate, same event mate’s funeral today. He shot himself with an AR-15, whether intentionally or accidentally. Perspective!

They were there a week ago for the funeral
It was suicide



No one is sure why she off'd herself.
excelled academically and athletically, family in the top 10% income bracket.

The pressure to be perfect can be overwhelming. An A student and excelled in sports. Maybe she should have backed it down a little and took a little pressure off herself.

So sad. Too young!

You never know what's going on with someone. Could be bullying at school, sexual abuse at home or elsewhere. Death of a loved one, etc.

my friend and his wife both think the pressure came from the parents.
They're both "over achiever" 110% types themselves and drove her pretty hard to "excel, excel excel"

I did worry about that with my 18 yr. old. POM, all AP classes. Covid, trying to score high on Act, trying to be Valedictorian. But, she had a lot of support. So does her brother.
