The questions:

A) what kind of carpet do you advise your clients buy?

B) what kind of carpet do you have personally?

C) if there is a difference between A and B, why?

Best carpet is a high density stain resist nylon. Or high quality well constructed wool. You want to avoid polyester including the new, biodegradable polyesters. Seems like they biodegrade while they are still in your home.

Now what about questions B and C, they were really my focus of interest in this post.

A. Depends on the customer and environment. If a high traffic home with kids and pets-- hard floors-- accented with rugs; cheap ones where a pet might pee on them.
My sister's home had heavily stained carpets due to pets and seven people, so she ripped it out to expose ugly stained wood floors. I gave her some rugs to hide the worst areas.
After she has had two career-ending hip replacements, I advise going with carpet with a double pad install.

B. Wood floors with cheap rugs in USA And Tile in Thailand.

C. If they ask me what kind of carpet and not what floor type- I say go with a "kid-proof" or "pet-proof" type carpet and clean it at least every 12 months.

better question would be....how often do you clean your own carpet?

But to answer your questions..
A) what kind of carpet do you advise your clients buy? Nylon

B) what kind of carpet do you have personally? Mostly Nylon but Olefin in Family Room

C) if there is a difference between A and B, why? Carpet was already in the house when we bought it.

This was a great thread, glad to see confirmation on nylon. I get this question fairly often from customers.

Yes. Seriously. If trading out carpet was as easy as trading a car people would do it all the time. We’re not fooling anybody saying and you get a lifetime this and that with carpet or any type of flooring.

Yes. It does. By the way. Did you get your Grey Matter order yet?
No I just ordered it a few days ago.

With Ronald McDonald cleaning I figured they would off for a few days.

I've used Silver solution and obliterate before

I use it too, but under a different name LST.. :shifty:
Yeah, same stuff but Tim claims he adds something to it that makes it different. I think that secret ingredient might be water because LST is a powder and SS is an expensive liquid. The guy has no college education and claims to be a chemist. I believe the stuff is made by a big JW family. I think it's ChemMax...

I had two identical wool rugs that were very brightly colored. I cleaned one with the SS and the other when my Centrum force chemicals. I can tell you there was a very noticeable difference. The SS did not clean as well. The appearance of the rug was a little dull and seemed a bit grayed out. The rug cleaned with the CF products was vivid and bright.

No one would ever notice unless you did a side by side test.

"Centrum Force chemicals"

That's kind of vague, can I assume that they were on the alkaline side?

Well they work. I'm not at the shop now and can't remember the name. I can take a pic if you really want to know.
Well, if you're comparing an alkaline-based cleaner to an acid side "problem solver" solution, it's kind of apples and oranges don't you think.
