63 today, 48 years cleaning carpet. The carpet cleaning business has created a financial path for our family. Kathie and I had three children that all played three musical instruments, nine lessons a week:oldrolleyes::oldrolleyes:. We traveled nationally and internationally, paid tuition to put all three through private collages. Our customers have been great and provided our family many opportunities.

Age 53. Been cleaning carpets 18 years. Got to witness Mikey get kicked off the ICS board for pissing off Evan every chance he could.

Cleaned chimneys 5 years before that. Haven't had a real job since 1997 and scrubbing rugs keeps me from being homeless. Plus I have 2 other people to feed. My daughter gets to eat every Wednesday. Someday I'm moving into her basement so it's a good investment.

Only good thing about turning 58 in October is I am one year closer to free health care 😀

The $3,500 SS check is a bonus… although I don’t know how anyone lives on a $120 daily pittance
Do you get $3500 a month is SS?

Healthcare isn’t free, but you will feel like it is. You can’t live on SS with the lifestyle your accustomed to. We don’t touch our SS.

I pay $2600 / month for health care now with $12k deductible

Medicare is for all intents and purposes will be free by comparison

A couple $100 in supplemental coverage is peanuts

My monthly SS check will be like petty cash 😂

The only reason I took on another mortgage at 66, was because it was the same amount of my health insurance which I no longer had. Combining my house and shop was a win, win. No deductibles, no co pays, zero, Nada🤷🏼‍♂️ Waited to draw SS at 70.

The great thing for us, Diana started drawing hers at 66. I drew half of hers and let mine grow. We fit in that narrow box before congress changed that option.

I'm drawing in November at 62.
Don't need it but the walk around money will be nice.
I did the math with the lower payments and the break even point was between 79 and 80.5 years old.
Might as well collect some now, spend it and enjoy it. Might not be here later.

36 years old, been around the industry since I was 16, but haven't cleaned full-time in 10 years. Cleaned some carpet 8 months ago to show a local-ish friend how to use his Prochem Legend and might do some more if my sister and brother-in-law get off the rears to start cleaning carpet. I've been hanging with you degenerates since 2006.

Serving our customers has also lead to public service. I am fortunate to sit on Altoona City Council, the Altoona Redevelopment Authority/Land Bank and the board of the Blair County Sports and Convention Center.
