I think because we are from the land of woods and lakes, there is a lot of lumber mills and real wood valued over that in our homes up north.
Feeling lucky!
The real probolem is level flooring and the fear it can pool to a base board quick.MDF crap all over here. Cheap crap! I always stay an inch away from the wall and go back on my knees with a brush and wet spotting towel soaked in tile cleaner. It's a glamours life.

Lastly a chimp and a crb splash zone
That's the old more is better rule.It doesn't have to be a chimp. People are idiots....
If it cleans up good at 1ooo psi... 2000 will be twice as clean.

ExactlyIf one ounce is good, ten must be better
I'm thinking MDF has little or nothing to do with location.
It's cost
It's simply cheaper for the home builder/developer than finger jointed primed poplar (or other inexpensive hardwood)
and most of it is "finished" .... doesn't need painted like FJ primed
and there are two different kinds of MDF
the saw dust and resin kind and the pressed paper.
The former will take "some" moisture..the latter is garbage and like a sponge

Does the bottom edge ever come pre primed or just the face?
And sealed in plastidipSo in reality, if someone wants to install MDF baseboards over hard surface floors, they should be painted on all sides and caulked on the bottom.
Can you imagine if I was sealed in Plastidip? The hugs would be even weirder...And sealed in plastidip
Almost like a Latex CondomCan you imagine if I was sealed in Plastidip?
was that straight juice or diluted to typical ratios when cleaning?
and too, I wonder if the wetting agents in cleaners helped with the warp speed swell?

Dude...Almost like a Latex Condom
I haven't seen mdf swell like that unless it's been a wdr job
maybe I've been lucky?
guessing 80% of skirting board I see is mdf
