Am I the only Member here that uses the VLM Method on every Carpet Cleaning job

Commercial and Residential

It's time to come out of the VLM Closet

No HWE with TM or Portable

100% VLM with 175 or OP

I switched to the VLM Method in 2019 after 25 years of HWE

And it was one of the BEST decisions I have ever made !!!

I love VLM !!!

I always have 3 vacuums on my Van for Residential and a Handheld for stairs and a Handheld for crevices when using Kirby. Shark Kirby 12'' Pro Team Eureka Handheld Shark Handheld. Last week my Kirby belt broke. No problem I have 2 backups. That Shark Handheld is a handy tool to have. Fits in my spotter bag and has good suction for a little vacuum

Usually 2 for Commercial a 20'' Linhaus and 15'' Pro Team

And when needed I bring Big Green. A 28'' Bissell Big Area Vacuum. I love Big Green for long Hallways Conference Rooms big Offices

I'll be VLM my Church as a volunteer service because it's bad and they ain't calling hahahah

And it's glue down with some areas bubbling already glue breaking down.

So I figure I'll hit it with angry lemon and oxy boost for coffees and pad it real good

I should mention I do have a portable for flushing out urine stains/spots with a Water Claw. I charge extra that and some furniture with loose fitting fabrics are very hard to clean using the VLM Method

I would like to hear about the type of work you turned down..

I've mentioned it before here but in my hustle days in Santa Cruz when I was first starting out I would often see Rob Rocha buzzing around in his white mini pickup that a simple fiberglass shell and I don't quite recall his name but all he had was a 175 and whatever bonnets were popular at the time.I think the can dry style polysor two to three inch thick bonnets we're getting replaced with thinner more effective and aggressive varieties.

We both pulled over at a beach overlook probably at lunch time one day and I think I was commiserating with him about the nasty pet job I just left and I asked him how he dealt with those situations and his reply was "I don't"

I don't think I even remotely understood it at the time as I was young and hungry and my water claw and I were out the conquer the world at that point.

While I am now emotionally and physically capable of running a low moisture only business, to be honest I still don't feel good about it with most residential services, especially ones with kids and pets and it would bother me not to be able to effectively clean corners and under furniture in the long edges and there's just something about watching that ooze come out of your waist tank hose at the end of the day with a certain level of disgustingness that no pad will ever be able to extract...

But that's not to say there are plenty of customers that never do disgusting things to their carpet and padding is more than enough to keep them happy and maybe more importantly keep my conscious even cleaner..

Ultimately I think a true professional multi-surface cleaner should have a truck mount and all the low moisture options.

I understand you guys don't like VLM for Residential but change happens. My customers like it and that's what matters to me

On my website at the top where everybody can see it, it says ...

The VLM/SETT Method is not recommended for Heavily Soiled Trashed Carpet. Heavily soiled Trashed Carpet needs to be Steam Cleaned

And it says I don't clean Restaurants or Diners. They need to be Steam Cleaned

I don't get a lot of calls for Heavily soiled carpet and I don't want to work in that kind of filth anymore anyway. I recommend they get them Steam Cleaned but most of the time they ask if I can just do the best job I can and that's what happens.

VacAway Commercial Magic, Double Trouble, Formula 357, are outstanding encaps with 9.5-12.0 ph and adding boosters like Detonator (Peroxide) or Odor Death x2 (clo2) makes them even better. Steve Smith found the secret to cleaning cheap polyester carpet usually found in rentals. Nothing out cleans VacAway when it comes to Polyester. NOTHING !!!
Thank You VacAway !!!

Yes I agree it's best to have VLM and HWE. I had that for 7 years. And yes it does feel good seeing that steam come from the sides of your wand and that big machine blasting away outside but I had that for 25 years and now I like and prefer a simpler quieter method called VLM. I like seeing the dirty cotton bonnets in my washing machine and all that dirty water

That's Beautiful !!!

I dont vlm enough to buy more products, I have several gallons of angry lemon and catalyst booster from CTI
I don't blame you. When I bought my latest Cimex, this #kid had bought 4 gallons of Matrix he threw in, which I don't use, but last summer, I thought that's stupid. We started using it in our schools and it was decent, especially free basically.
