step 5. is a restorative clean only (heavy heavy soiling only) I prefer more prespray and dwell over padding if I know I can get away with it

step 6. often not required if got prespray right to start with

step 8. how do you vacuum a wet carpet?

step 9. bonneting can help with soil removal but I prefer to reclean if neccesary, it can also help with drying but I prefer airmovers

that process is way overkill for 98.375%

it really isn't about being the world's greatest fiber bundle massager

steps one thru 147 can be boiled down to two

1.) they like and trust you
2.) you're responsive to their needs

Interesting.

Today I turned up to a referral to remove oil from the garage floor.

The client had also booked a carpet cleaner before booking me.

I turned up before the other guy and started with the garage.

The other guy turns up and we say hi. He goes into the house to inspect the carpet and came out 5 minutes later saying he can't get many of the stains out.

The householder asked me to have a look. I said I don't want to put the other guy offside. The other guy didn't really care and I don't think wanted to do the job.

I didn't see anything that looked all that challenging. So I ended up doing the carpet as well and it came up great.

When I finished the next door neighbour popped his head in and he is booked in for next Monday.

Overrkill - maybe

A great result with constant referrals - absolutely.

5. What about heavy traffic areas? I am not a fan of the Nike shuffle on a carpet.
6. Rust, chewing gum, blue green red stains etc
8. Wet and dry vacuum cleaner
9. Not for cleaning more for final appearance and reduced dry time

I'm curious what your production rates are and how much one would have to charge be profitable

I'm assuming you run a two man crew??
or charging a buck-o-ft to clean if one man??

If it has heavy traffic areas it is restorative not standard clean for me

my truckmount takes care of chewing gum, if lots of red or blue stain etc it generally is also restorative clean, a nuke juice prespray will take care of them

I cant see a wet n dry picking up anymore than few extra dry passes with TM, which takes care of drying too

I am happy with $100 per hour and I work alone.

Just very focused when cleaning and efficient.

Thinking about production rates it is 320 to 360 square feet per hour.

The buffer is 400 rpm and the prespray fires out the solution.

I want you hoohas to think about a little fact that's in EVERY home service business:
The customer wants us in and out of their house in an average of 2.5hrs so they can go on with their daily schedule in their life.

I understand if it's a huge $750job. But on the average $300job you need to find a way to efficiently do the magic.

My point is, cut those 11 steps in half

1. Inspection with client to determine fibre and soiling type/level. Set Expectations of client and take note of possible areas to upsell.
2. Discuss Upselling with the client.
3. Vacuum all areas.
4. Prespray with appropriate product determined after step 1
5. Scrub all areas with pad
6. Apply spotting solutions to stubborn stains.
7. HWE with neutralising rinse
8. Post clean vacuum.
9. Polish all areas with.bonnet
10. Groom
11. post clean walk thru with client so they can tell you how amazing you are

Any comments and suggestions appreciated.
1. Inspect QUICKLY
2. Vacuum all rooms
3. Spray, not prespray, your emulsifying goodies everywhere
4. Scrub ONLY the heavy trafficked areas
5. HWE
6. Apply spotting solutions IF stains are still there after you've HWE the carpet
7. Skip step 8 because you pulled your wand straight and NOT triangle, giving you better dry passes
8. Skip step 9 because the first 6 steps should've given you KickAss results
9. Skip step 10 because you your straight wand passes makes the carpet look groomed
10. Skip step 11 because you don't want to put footprints in your newly cleaned carpet.
Get paid, and leave with a happier customer because you're out of their way.

So how many steps have you taken with better results? 6

Great.

I like using the buffing machine.

Number 2 is the most important step imo.

Upsell.

Get a killer website, get your google reviews going, and have an effective and efficient process to where you can provide a good service while you can produce more jobs/day, and your customer list will grow faster than you expect.

And don't ever forget to send your reminders every 6,9, 12 months religiously. My customers thank me for those cards. That's the best affordable type of marketing I've ever done in the 15 years I've been self employed

this is EXACTLY why customers have no clue when they call and ask "how much do you charge"

You call 10 carpet cleaners and even though there is a written Standard in the Industry, you will get 10 different results.
