This is what I get for recommending karastan to a great customer..from the first cleaning at 6months...and 2 since then..this dark areas are only showing up where they walk...World of floors in MI will not deal with the warranty at all....now keep in mind, these people are only here in the warm months...and they are very, very clean.....their home is immaculate....View attachment 5024View attachment 5025

have you pulled the carpet back and check the underside/backing including pad for possible causes?

is it just dark or is the carpet damaged in any way?

does it come clean like new?

I am not a big fan of polyester / Triexta no matter who makes it. They still seem to have an affinity for oil / grease / petroleum. Is there any source they may be picking up oils and tracking it in? Maybe an asphalt driveway? If so, they need about 25' of matting at the entrance or take off their shoes.

I only said karastan...she says pad is 8# with the impervious back...it only trails where they walk and sit.as you can see the chairs go back on the carpet.the pics are the family room and hallway to bedrooms..she wears no lotion on feet.only wears socks in the house. IM realizing that this is just another shit polyester carpet

Wow, shame on you for recommending that crap!!
That stuff loves the oils from our feet and if you get a women that uses alot of foot lotion you will get black traffic areas like this. This carpet was less than a year old, it is smartstrand. This stuff is pure crap!!!!

My Smart is going on 3 years old and having no problems at all.

I have seen some good things from the fiber such as when a client spilled Red Cherry Wood stain and we were able to extract it out when they called us a year later.

Took a little delimonene for additional spotting help, but came out.

Our carpet is a very light color called "Blondie" so hint towards the yellow crème side.''

We have dogs, grandkids (and their parents and grand dogs) and have had no problem maintaining it.

I did have a warranty situation from a Smart Strand style carpet that another company did clean, and we actually did have to go back a couple times to correct similar problems as being shown in the picture.

It was not the actual Mohawk brand and what I would call a "Knock off" brand of the smart strand.

Mark can you in your most heavily used room move the furniture out and take pics? Spots come out, but spots usually come out I am more interested in the traffic lane wear.. The "smart strand" carpet around these parts is garbage after a year or 2 no more then 5..

Yes I will. It's dark now so not sure if I will get good lighting but usually will have great light in the morning and I will take pics.

We have it in our Master Bedroom that gets a lot of traffic, another spare bedroom, hallway and a Living room that is also a work out type room for us.

We have a 57 ounce carpet with a 10 pound pad under it.

I will probably not be able to move furniture around until Saturday, but will try to give you a perspective of what we have right now.

.

I can GUARANTEE you that lotion IS NOT the cause of the soiling in that pic.

Here is one picture of one of our Living rooms with our smart strand.

I am waiting for my wife to wake up so I can take some other pics of other rooms.

Want to vacuum it up and rake it out so can try and see it better.

Will also try and move some of this furniture in this pic so you can see if wear patterns (which we really are not experiencing)

The line across the middle is a small hump in the floor of this room (older section of our home) that the light is hitting just right at the moment.

Well, I am trying my best to get some pics and the sun is not cooperating for this....but it does look like a great day for the lake!

So here are my best on our Smart Strand. We are not experiencing the problems some are describing.

I was sold on trying the smart strand after a client had spilled "Red Cherry Wood Stain" on his new carpet while staining his new fireplace mantle. We were able to remove it with HWE and the assistance of some delamine.

So here are a bunch of pics before vacuuming, after a vac, my foot prints in the carpet to try and show it's wear or lack of, moved the couch out to try and show no real wear issues, in front of the bed (wasn't taking down my King Bed for you guys...sorry, but not really :) ) Raking/grooming it out....

I have experienced some cheaper types of this carpet being more finicky, but we have been able to clean them up. I think it is like any other carpet, the quality counts, so go name brand in my opinion.

This is a 57 ounce Smart strand on a 10 pound pad.

Hi Glen,

I’m Jordan from Mohawk Flooring, and I’m so sorry to hear about the issues that your customer is experiencing with their Karastan carpet. Do you know if they contacted Mohawk’s Consumer Affairs team to discuss the soiling? Since Karastan is part of Mohawk Industries, there is an online form that your customer can fill out about these issues, and once Mohawk receives it, they will contact your customer right away. Again, I apologize for these issues. http://www.mohawkflooring.com/consumer-affairs/

I am impressed with these responses and really appreciate seeing this kind of service.

Not sure who brought this to Jordan's attention, but really appreciate this effort to try and help correct these concerns.
