When you restoration guys run into wet wood floors, do you clean them with your wand before putting the drying equipment in?

We use a hard surface wand to get the water up. We don't add anymore moisture, so drying comes first and then we have to clean everything needed after drying and reconstruction.

And I use my port hole all the time :)

And I never freeze up...LOL!

I don't care how much money I could make, I would kill myself if I had to work in those temps for a living.

Id rather starve and be warm, than be rich and be that cold.

It's just been relentless this year. Not been this bad since 1996.

It is -46 below zero just 60 miles North of me and currently it is -27 below here as I prepare to head out to our jobs. It could again get colder once the Sun comes up.

We have a pretty busy and full day also today with a lot of travel to the jobs as well.

Had another broken pipe call come in last night just after 10 pm from one of my clients. Been gone for 10 days, even had the water shut off in the house, but the main shut off must of allowed the water to leak past and they were gone for 10 days. House is also up for sale on the market. Was discovered by the realtor. Got them a contractor to get started in the morning and then if they need me, I am coming in to do the easy part of the dry down.

It's suppose to get a brief warm up and then POUND US again with cold!

This is getting old right now.

I know you northerners are born and bred in that type of conditions.....

but got to be honest and say I agree.....it has to come to a point where you have to ask yourself if it is worth risking everything just to make a buck......

Two degrees out right now but at least the is very little wind.

I went to snow blow my mother inlaws and could get the damn thing to fire up. It was running fine at home. :madd: Nothing like fooling with a snow blower in the dark in single digits.

Already had two guys call in sick and I just barley got here.

This year is starting off just peachy!

I really don't understand why MN has a population at all.

It was gorgeous here yesterday, did you see the Rose Parade? Supposed to be upper 70's, low 80's today.

We go nuts here if the temp drops below 50. Everyone is excited to wear that heavy coat they have in their closet they never get to wear.

Take care,
Lisa

Northern folks point out their POLAR weather to keep all the Californians from moving there.

Yep.

Horses even have turnouts on, took them off for two days last week the it got cold again. Two more months ....just two more bad months.

Only the cats fend for themselves. They are pretty durable, it doesn't seem to bother them.

Well, had to suck it up a bit more by the time we got to our first job. As you can see, -35 degrees ACTUALL temp before windchill....it was REALLY (x 5) cold.

Our younger kid decided to work without gloves today...and we have a bunch of them in the shop for them....guess he was just being MN tough (or young kid dumb!!!)

We are still out with the trucks, a bit warmer, but getting excited to park them for the day soon!

It's suppose to drop down to -19 next week. I've never seen these low temps let alone for this length of time.

I know I wouldn't like cold like the kind of cold they have up there in Minnesota, but down here, August is hell on earth. When I'm out in the garden, picking peas and it's 98 degrees with 70% humidity, I want to move. Of course, the weather is pretty nice around here right now.
