Just did work for a woman a few weeks ago that used Hagopians for over 20 years. It was a $600 carpet and furniture cleaning job.

We asked how she heard about us and it was through an internet search... she had assumed that Hagopians was nationwide and when she discovered they weren't she 'settled' on my company.

I made sure I sent two guys and was crossing my fingers we lived up to her expectations.

True story.

$121.99 for cleaning only. A flight of steps adds $30 plus or minus, plus SG on 75% or so of the jobs ~ puts that job in the $225 range typically.

Rug/flooring sales were modestly profitable for us until the late 1990's2000's when we built up a total of ver 50,000 sq feet of retail space in 4 locations and were selling about 9.5 million of rugs out of them. The bottom dropped out shortly thereafter and we are now at about 4 million with the same sq ft under mortgage/lease.

Sales of rugs is a part of our passion, legacy and history so I don't believe we will ever stop being a retailer of rugs & flooring. We have stayed as far ahead of the market devastation as we can and are diligently looking for tenants to share our spaces and fortunately in the leased locations our landlords have worked with us.

We will survive and be stronger when we and the market in general turn around.

Ken
Ps myself and my 3 partner co-owners have been at half of our modest salarly for about 24 of the last 36 months- partly to impress the bank, partly to save the funds, and partly to impress employees on the situation.

You have been very honest in your information supplied to this board.
IMHO...you are beyond re-proach in all of your post ! As you know the
RETAIL business of any products have been under ENOURMOUS stress
in this economic enviorment.

You and I ..spoke briefly months ago..and your firm was ALREADY beginning
to look at downsizing. As you are well aware...the success of any business is
to KNOW your market.! Quick ADJUSTMENTS & CAPITAL are the key to continued
success.

The RISK / REWARD of any expansion ....will always have many SUPRIZES... :!:
The finest economist could have never predicted this DEVESTATION in our economy.
I am SURE you & your partners will weather this storm.!

ps. It is always AWKWARD...even rude.. ...To guess at someones personal income.
My guess was based on CLEANING ONLY...I also realize that you would NEVER be inclined
to offer up that PERSONAL info.. Let me just say THIS...!!!!!! If you were handling
a MULTI-TRUCK operation for "ME"...The NUMBERS..that I stated would be a FAIR
"employment package" for someone of YOUR experience & LOYALITY.... !gotcha!

PSS The "Silver-Lining"...in these economic DOWN-TURNS...is ATTRATION"... :!:
Your market share should increase by 30% minimum....Do to the elimination of inferior
business plans of OTHERS... shiteatinggrin shiteatinggrin shiteatinggrin

Thanks Joe appreciate your kind words and insights. I am certain that our market share has increased in the cleaning world as sales have gone up even with half the Detroit market sitting vacant (a little exageration). We also believe our retail market share has at least stayed flat, but may have shrunk some do to so many people buying moderate priced rugs on the internet or in big box stores (even though we are cheaper).

In this post you can see that everyone has a different position in the market, If it works for you long term, keep doing it. We are all independent business people, and at the end of the day, if we are satisfied with what we make, thats why we do it. !gotcha!
