Looks like a poly blend on top, and cotton on bottom.

The cotton foundation could potentially cause browning.

Stanley may have sown the seeds of you owning the problem. But then again you may get away with it if using very low moisture and cleaning on the acid side. One way to do it is letting it dry upside down so browning if happens goes to foundation.

Question is: Are you feeling lucky?

Do a burn test on all the fibers. I realize that the brown fiber might look like jute, but seen similar rugs that were all poly, even the jute looking fiber.

I'm getting better at cleaning problem rugs that I use to run away from. Wet cleaned a sisal rug that had diarrhea on it. It cleaned up fine. Even have good luck with rayon rugs. Seems Hot water is our enemy on some rugs.

I've done them. Light on the trigger and lots of slow dry passes. They suck up the water like a sponge.

No thanks.

I had a sofa a few years back the custy said Stanley cleaned. Once I started she mentioned a few problems they had and they to back to shop.

I clean and BAM all of a sudden there is color loss.

She expected me to pay for her $4500 sofa.
Even explaining about oxidation from previous cleaning it was my fault.

Double knot those shoes and Run!!

I often have customers that say so and so did it last time. Means absolutely nothing. Use your professional judgement. If in doubt, don't do it.
