Will it attract soil if I add a deodorizer to my rinse? I’m finding after rinsing the carpet the ps smell fades away...I’m using End Zone as my rinse, but lacks that fresh clean smell customers look for. What are some of the things you guys are using? Thanks.

It depends on the deodorizer, and the rinse.

Most attract soil, and some react with one another and can clog up your chemical injection system.

If you want to leave a fragrance in the room, take your favorite flavor, put it in a trigger sprayer, and spray it in the corners of the room. It works for dog and cat urine odors, and it works for pleasant fragrances as well.

Jim covered the main points. Most fragrances have essential oils as the source. Any oil can attract residue. If you don't over-use the deodorizer, it is unlikely to be enough left behind for any noticeable resoiling.

I like to get the fragrance at nose level. I put some appropriately diluted deodorizer in a trigger sprayer as Jim did. I spray into an absorbent surface at nose level. Maybe the wooden door frame or dry wall or whatever. This will linger longer than something in the carpet, no resoiling and it can get their attention as soon as they walk into the room.

You better make sure the customer is okay with the smell of the deodorizer. While most people enjoy certain odors, there are others that don't want any type of lingering odor in their home at all. Over the 35 plus years I have been in this business, I have run into many of them.

While you are on the job: "What a nice fragrance! It smells just like (oranges, flowers, whatever)

After you leave: "This smells kind of nice, but I hope it won't last forever"

That night: "Geez that stuff was strong, I have a headache"

The next day: "My house stinks like chemicals and its making me sick! You people better come out here and do something about it!"

Yes, I've been through that too Brian, and that was back when people weren't nearly so chemophobic. A good reminder to all of us.

I used to put it in my rinse all the time without any ill effects.

Many customers would say they enjoyed the seasonal flavors that I would choose.

I’ve stopped mostly since going to the Blue Saiger Sauce. I keep the tip near the carpet so I don’t dominate the place with too much but it does seem to leave a good impression from the start of a job.

I’m convinced any fruity smell is gone by morning.

Code Red has a nice fragrance too.

Depends on the circumstance. If it's a super clean house, I don't use a deo. If it's a trashed, nasty carpet...Saigercide will be added. I love that smell. I'm not sure if it gets sticky after it dries. I hope it doesn't. I've only been using it for about 6months.
