Wrong.

In most cases they created the problem and dont have the propensity to fix it.

and small repairs is the easiest way to get a conversation going with the homeowner about your offerings...

Razors
Picks
Box knife
Brushes
Bucket
Trowel
Towels

...is about all you need to earn 150 or more an hour, a lot cheaper than a trash truck.
I’ve made a mint on flooring repairs.

Mikey, even the teachers on the class brag about their certificates. And now that you're in the IICRC, you can't convince them to put a nice little certificate on this type of learning? Why doesn't it qualify for one? Keep kicking me in the balls about a subject I brought up about a trash business, and I might not make the trip. I'm not too fond of not getting any certifications for a $1200 class

I took the StonePro class and I think what they taught was over and beyond what the IICRC could offer. A continuing education credit would have been nice. Maybe something to work into in the future.

Then take an iicrc class? You probably won't learn as much but hey...certificates

I just feel that since Mike jumped on the IICRC bandwagon, they should be happy to include this hands on course in their list of certifications.

Or is it that they'll want a piece of the $pie$ If they put their name on it?

I'm not sure what you'd like me to explain.

Choose one of the below:

1. My low regard for "Death By Powerpoint" IICRC training courses as a whole?

2. My specific distaste for the "Geology 101" course that currently earns you a hard surface technician patch?

3. My experience (when I once belonged the the Church of the IICRC and was on the Schools and Instructors Committee) with how long it takes to get a class worthy of certification testing through the labyrinth that is the IICRC approval status?

4. The fact that the only two certifications that have any teeth (few that they are) are the carpet cleaning and the water damage certifications?

5. The revenge of Terje Brevik proportions I pondered when you woke me up with a text about this at 12:11 AM? Wait till you're 61 and you'll understand how difficult it is to fall back asleep at the level of decrepitude I've reached...

Thank you for your response. I'll get off Mikey's back on it.

The sumbich Gomer Piled me on the other thread, so I had to harass him back. I figured this thread would be a good place to start

But hell, print up a pretty sheet of paper with a gold star on it when we finish to make us simpletons feel special on our way home from the class. Driving home with a headache from drinking too many BlueMoons the night before isn't a good feeling

It’s still not Rocket Science. I enjoy repairs but I grew up working on things so comes naturally. It’s not that tough to figure things out.
Now the last rug I turned her down and sent her to a lady in San Diego

The certs look good on the wall of my office next to the BTF Delorean framed picture and some MC Esher art

The patches are and always were stupid
Just like the certificate. Hell they got so cheap on the certificates too. They used to be on certificate stock, now it just a color printer copy. Next they will send a file for you to print.

The sweet thing is if you go to enough classes and get the certificates, you now have backup whenever there is a toilet paper shortage again.

The value is in the ed-u-macation that you gain...ya damn dummy! 😉

@Matt Wood ...:

These things take time. And change is hard....even when it is for the good.
I know that Mike is working hard at his relationship with the IICRC And how they do things. Many “old timers” still there stin Their ways.

I have no doubt with time, patience and mike’s tenacity that things will evolve. There have already been leaps and bounds that many don’t know about And are behind the scenes.

certification or not....the class is well worth the price. And honestly, what ROI do you get from your current certifications that cost less?

I thought they did approve the last class for CEUs.....but I could be wrong. I would think they would....I know they have done something similar for a dye class that is not an IICRC certified one....
