Time to change up the old website, it has served us well but it's not mobile friendly and the company I work with (web.com) can't fix it nor can they build a stand-alone mobile site, so basically they suck and I'm tired of their excuses.

So I am thinking I need a new, modern website or just a nice mobile site. Any suggestions?

I'd start just by duplicating the current site as a responsive site in wordpress.

yeah, if it requires more than a phone call and some e-mails I'm not doing it, that's what I need to hire someone to do

Definitely outsource it! Find a young, local, independent designer who can make the website different than your competition.

They are pretty east to make....we did ours on weekly. Had to manually change some things in html (think the h3 tags) but was easy. Nothing you could not google...just make sure you have origanal content and proper keyword density.

The first two we had done were $3,500.00 and did not look or function any better. My brother is already ready to do it again and the quotes he as are for 5K.

I suppose "dirt cheap" is relative but in comparison for what you receive I do believe it still applies. :winky:

We are looking to "upgrade" too. A former co-worker and good friend of mine started his own business an had been handling this for us. We were re-designing the site around this time last year and he had a debilitating stroke on Halloween last year. 37 years old, 3 year old daughter and the "face" of his company. He's currently in FL at an intensive Aphasia rehab facility to try to regain better speech and communication.

Aphasia is an impairment of language, affecting the production or comprehension of speech and the ability to read or write. Aphasia is always due to injury to
the brain-most commonly from a stroke, particularly in older individuals. But brain injuries resulting in aphasia may also arise
from head trauma, from brain tumors, or from infections.

Aphasia can be so severe as to make communication with the patient almost impossible, or it can be very mild. It may affect mainly a single
aspect of language use, such as the ability to retrieve the names of objects, or the ability to put words together into sentences, or the
ability to read. More commonly, however, multiple aspects of communication are impaired, while some channels remain accessible for a limited
exchange of information. It is the job of the professional to determine the amount
of function available in each of the channels for the comprehension of language, and to assess the possibility that
treatment might enhance the use of the channels that are available.

Devastating to have a mind that works and a body that won't cooperate, especially at such a young age.

All you O/Os out there....make sure you have disability insurance. And get it for your spouse too if they are the ones booking appointments, answering the phones etc. Many people don't think about having it if they aren't in a "physical" job. (I won't get hurt sitting at my desk or behind a computer, nothing to stop me from dong my job mentality). Imagine doing your job with out sight....hearing...the ability to verbally communicate or with out use of a hand....

He had no disability insurance.....so you can imagine what it's been like.

Any of those Godaddy sites any good? They advertise on TV about building you a site and seo.
