First job today....

Got the call that the drive at the end could be really, really icy and slippery....

OK...thanks for the call....

Holy good gravy.....:eekk::eekk::eekk::eekk::eekk:

We started down the hill....had a quick Left turn at the bottom....Aron got the van sliding to make the corner....but...woah momma!

Hit some dirt finally to get stopped in an area to be able to back into driveway.

We carry some salt but not for that length of run....

Put out what we had after cleaning....and backed up...gunned it all the way to the top running one tire in the ditch...and trees...and anything I could find for traction....

Van was spinning and flopping sideways both ways...Took small trees with me up the hill....:dejection:

Thought we were going to be there until the next thaw....

There was a coating of moisture on top of the ice by the time we got out....was just like the Zamboni had gone over the ice....

Need more salt for tomorrow...going into place we really should have done the Quigley 4 x 4 conversion!

The pics don't do justice on the incline....

I hate this time of year! :hopeless:

I carry a five gallon pail of sand with me for the next four months.

We were going to start taking sand off the beach next...

or fire up the Butler and start making rumble strips up the hill...

We were just thankful it didn't spin out going up the hill and then start the backwards out of control descent....

I was up the ski hill yesterday. Was supposed to be ‘2-3’ small jobs. Ended up doing 7 jobs for the PM. I chained up for the first job, and never took them off until I finished the last one.... studs were useless....

today...was unusually crazy windy!

We parked the van in a yard...after we skated in with it through the flat driveway.... BUT

The wind kept pushing the van down the driveway after we tried to park it! :eekk:

We got it to a cement slab...and then got out and put down more salt....

In 2 days we have gone through a lot of salt!

Just been a few days of everything is ice! :angry::angry::angry::madder::madder::madder:

Mark;

Would studded tires have helped ??

Are they legal in your state ?

These should work in the woods :

or these for the street.

I sure wish!

Can't run studs....can't run chains....

There was even one year they wouldn't let us run studs in our snowmobiles!

Then they put a trail fee on being able to run studs....just plain stupid!

My van tires even have the holes to screw in the studs!
