"Oh I'm so sorry we don't take Amex.."
Oh, OK, let me call you back..
She now wants to use a Discover card..

now she'll call back with hopefully at Visa or Master Card number..

I hope..

How do you not take all of them Mikey?
Have you ever just tried running one? Maybe you take them and don't know it.

No on the amex, fees are too high.

Raise your prices 5% and take all of them.

The one pain in the butt about AmEx is that is takes 5 days to get the cash. We run V/MC through our bank and get it next day - right away if it is debit. (Cheaper to take debit too.)

Just never took Discover - rarely get asked that.

Really?? My processor gets AmEx in 2 days, Visa and MC in 3 and Discover in 5. Do you use a gateway? Another thing is the AmEx will deposit on Saturday, but the rest are just M-F.

Take care,
Lisa

For us

Visa/Mastercard & AMX 24-48 hours tops, discover up to 72 (we rarely get discover cards).

AMX discount rate is much lower than they use to be as well~ less than 1% spread between all the cards now for us.

When they can't or won't be there to pay you, just take their cc number. That is the main reason it is worth taking visa and mc. No chasing your money.

lol most of it is , at one time we excepted all credit cards. As the economy started taking a hit we started noticing less credit card trans actions , it got to the point we would only take a few cards in the summer months.

It's been two and half years since we have taken any credit cards and in that time we have only had one customer that said credit card was the only way she could pay.

wow i cant understand how you cant see that most people will spend more money if
they can charge it..
we take all of them and when i look back at he charges i am very happy that i made
the decision our first month in business to do so. i can truly say that all the costs
involved with running credit cards dont scratch the surface on the extra money made
by taking them..
we deal with most of the bigger Realtors in the area and they have a business card
that they charge this kind of stuff on and pay it off when the home go's to settlement
i am not sure what they do if the home does not sell and the owner wants to un list it

Larger commercial accounts will use AMEX sometimes....I just like to give my customers options.
We charge enough to take a small hit on a charge....especially if it's a larger charge.

It all comes out in the wash.

50-60% of our jobs are paid with a card, we accept them all.

I don't shop anywhere I can't pay with my amex. Exception would be Judson, I use my paypal account to amex them. My local supplier stopped accepting amex & lost 2-3k per month in sales just from me.

No amex here but we do take discover and the rest. The customers will
spend more if they use cc.
