So, we did a job today for an OLD retired, female doctor....
She is 85, very intelligent, and crotchety....
Anyway, we did all the carpeting in her home, a few pieces of furniture, she then asked if we can clean her sunroom....
Sure, man, it was dirty!
Anyway, I thought the carpet was grey....
Well, no, it was beige...
She asked why I ‘stripped’ the colour out of the carpet..
We vacuumed, spoted, agitated, then extracted.
It looked great!
She was pissed off at us!
She didn’t want to pay her bill....

Have your wife hold her down, steal her purse, run her credit card, block her next time she calls.

Elderly lady had me clean her recently deceased husband's favorite recliner and carpet around it.

She cried.

When it all cleaned up perfectly she said "oh he's all gone now, I'm sorry I complained about 'his spot'".
In the late twilight of our lives, all we have left are memories....
Something my grandfather used to say....

On that type of job when there is that much of a difference. I try to show the owner at the very start of the cleaning. And try to find a closet or under the bed of how the carpet is not being used to compare it. Sometime great work just doesn't pay. jz

How many times have you been scolded for bleaching Travertine?
Had that happen a few times over the years prior to us doing hard surface cleaning. We over sprayed the floor and "bleached" it. What we actually did was clean it. In all cases the customer was told by the retailer/installer to maintain their floor with a damp mop using only water.

Looking back, that was our introduction to hard surface cleaning since we went back and had to do the entire floor for them.

I was once threatened with a lawsuit by a very prominent woman for ruining her steel grey carpet.
It cleaned up perfect to a beautiful shade of blue (the original color).
Come to find out her interior decorator had picked out all new draperies and furniture matching the grey carpeting.

I cleaned a nasty carpet last week using Tsunami tile cleaner.
Way back in the day we used to use carpet shampoo to wash our trucks. Don't ask me who started that practice, it preceded me working here. I eventually switched it to a regular car wash shampoo (a lot cheaper and better for the vehicle paint jobs). One crew leader must not have been awake when we let everyone know about the switch and figured that this must be a new carpet shampoo and used it to shampoo a customer's carpet. He said it did a nice job and had a nice cherry scent to it as well!!

Another one of the many reasons my hair keeps falling out!!

my parents are losing theirs and they don't like it-- so I share stories about me being forgetful as well in an effort to comfort them.
