Another steamgeni pto gone for good

I cant save um all. A former competitor called me Thursday and informed me that there old steamgeni pto got tagged by the police. They have 72 hours to move it or it'll be towed. With a rotting body and a blown engine it was of no use to them and was offered to me free to a good home. But with 3 of my own i have no place to put it so i offered a few hundred dallors for parts i could salvage and let the city crush the rest. I got the driveshaft, blower(45 roots), pump ,heat exchangers ,wastetank lid ,control panel , and a few assorted small parts. I hate to see um go this way but i can't save um all too bad this one only had 1710 hours since new (in 1994)

There ya go Woody, road trip! Ya got the heart and brains of a Steam Geni there. If Dwain-o is willing to part from it, with a few bucks and a little help from your friends I bet y'all can build the rest around it in no time.

Time is the most valuable thing in my life right now. I'd love to take on a project like that if time allowed. But it's just not available in my season of life.

But when one of the manufacturers today evolves into the simple steamgenie design, I'll be ordering one for certain

Makes sense, and when will our time become less precious. Maybe it only makes sense if you love doing that kind of stuff like Dwain-o does. Do you run direct drive machines now?

Ya know, im an owner operator. With limited free time also. When i started building frankinstien i had just turned 65. On my 67th birthday i bought the van to install him and just 3 months shy of my 68th birthday frankinstien went into service. These kinda projects are not overnight throw um together at least not if you want to get decades more service outa them i started physically building frankinstien January 2019 and put him in service September 2022 if covid hadn't hit the process would taken ½ the time, but that would've still been 1½years of hobby building. Not everybody can do it. Very few have the ability to vision a project of this scale even less have the skills,resources and patience required to pull it off. But for the few that do it is a rewarding experience. And when completed you'll have a truly special machine that only a few if any in the world have. Whether you start with an old steamgeni or a big red, fox, white magic 1200 or some other machine. Building it from the ground up with your own hands gives you not only a unique understanding of how everything works together, but a sincere since of pride you can't just go out and buy. And a added benefit is with proper maintenance and care these old machines could last if not your whole career. The can last a majority of it
