Does that mean that they are going to start marketing the mercedes vans under the Mercedes name instead of Dodge?

I run a MWB low roof Sprinter and a 111Extended Vito in our business.

We don't get the Ford and Chev vans over here... the runabouts are a smaller van. Do you guys get a Toyota Hiace over there? Merc Vito? VW Transporter? Mitsibishi Express?

Probably not but general sizing is approx 10' L x 5' W x 5' H will give a fairly close gestimate.

In the larger sizes, we have the MERCEDES Sprinter, VW (Something), Iveco Daily, Ford Transit and a few other minor sellers.

Of those ones, the Transit is by far the biggest seller and the largest load of crap. If however you only want a 3 year rollover lease and then drive another one away, they are your best option.

The Merc and VW are comparible to each other on all aspects and the Iveco is a really nice unit possible better than the others but not widely known and therefore suffers on the sales side.

There's a bit of edjumacation for ya all

The Vito is the BEST to drive, almost like a car and safety and handling capabilities are WAY up there above almost anything other than a Merc car.

I run a 'baby' Legend XL in the Vito,

Not a whole lot of room mainly considering I don't just do carpet cleaning.

I do a host of specialist stuff for our business.

I have a toolbox set up for each type of work I do.

1 each for
Carpet repairs.
Carpet retufting and spot dyeing.
Spot and stain removal.
Leather cleaning and repairs.
Normal tool box with general tools.
WDR inspection kit.

Plus my spotting machine, steam unit, T&G stuff, vacuum cleaner and the host of other stuff that we tend to carry.

I can still fit into the back, 1x LRG2000 dehu, 3x ace fans and up to another 4 standard snail type air movers when needed to go to a flood.

In the Sprinter, I have the Genesis with heaps of room.

I set both my vans up myself because I don't like the standard NZ set up of out the back door.

I have them mid mounted and facing out the passenger side door. Both vans have dual side sliding doors which greatly increases usable access space.

We used to have the Volkswagen Transporter but just up 2003. The Vito made it's appearance last year as the Metris. I have a diesel Volkswagen Transporter with a slide in and would love to get a new one but would have to import one and have it meet all the North American standards.

Should have traded for a VAN!!!!!
If I had another truck, I would've purchased something like that. If I bought a van, I would've had just my wife's volkswagon and a van. Every man needs a truck.

I made a goal for my business to invest in a van/box truck in about 4-5years (depending on how my finances are then) to keep my truck/trailer setup and get a whole new van/box truck setup, so I'll have both a nice backup and I'll be comfortable financially.

Should have traded for a VAN!!!!!
If I've learned anything in this business, it's to always have a backup machine and vehicle. If I'd have purchased a van, I wouldn't have a backup if the van or truck mount breaks down. With a truck pulling a trailer, I can either borrow my friend's truck mount and go to work, or if my truck breaks down, I can borrow my dad's truck.

This year I had lost about $5k in breakdowns. If I had a van in those breakdowns, I wouldn't have been able to borrow my friend's truck AND truck mount. I would've lost so much more money in work.

That's another reason I decided to keep my trailer setup. I can pull a trailer better than some of you old guys can drive your van, haha

Anyway, I love my new truck. It's the 6.2 gas burner, and I got the 100k mile extended warranty, and it's just a regular cab, instead of the crew cab, which makes it a lot more easier to maneuver my trailer.

The only bad thing is, I worked AND traveled with the family in my crew cab pickup, because my wife's volkeswagon was too small to travel with a family of 4. So I'm in the process of buying her something bigger right now. As long as we can keep the payments the same on her new vehicle we'll be fine.
