Ive got an older El Diablo that Ive been using for years, and I really like the system. Due to a fire (not sure how it started) it looks like I'll be shopping for a new system. Has anyone had any experience with the heat exchanger El Diablo? Can I get similar heat with heat exchangers? I would like to move away from the fuel fired heaters and Im looking at the El Diablo with heat exchanger and just started looking at the different Sapphire systems as well. Any input is appreciated

I have no experience with the el Diablo hx but the sapphire is silly hot. Because the muffler is heating the water through radiate heat transfer you end up with an unstoppable supply of hot water. I ran the spinner at 1500 psi on low speed as an experiment and it held at 195. I had a propane burner before and it could not keep up with that kind of output of water.

Apparently, nobody owns one, or it sucks so bad nobody is willing to talk.

Think R A from another board owns one....or did....but doubt he knows how to work on it....

Even though he would tell you different as an industry leader and guru.... :)

I'm still waiting for a video of the sutained temp ATW for this 570. My friends V gets super hot to. 270 at the truck and almost 190 at the wand on a warm day. :stir:

I played with one at mf. Nothing like the fuel fired. The ss570 and ss870 are the only 2 HE machines that I have seen hold good heat with 12 flow on a wand.

Nothing is going to compare to a fuel burner in regards to heat.

Question is, that much heat a neccessity or a luxury?

A good heat exchange unit should provide all the heat you would need under most circumstances, unless your a high heat freak.

Don't heat exchange units require a generally lower rpm due to the backpressure from the HE, whereas a secondary seperate burner allows the engine to be run wide open??

I remember something like that being discussed by a manufacturer as a benefit to de-engineering complicated HE units and adding seperate burners.

Something you may want to also consider.

generally the manufacturer has to speed up the blower to create more heat for the HX. For me the fuel fired heat comes into play in the winter. doesnt matter what slide in you run here in the winter, an HX unit doesnt create the heat that is needed. Even the AT has a hard time heating up when its extrememly cold.

I have been thinking about getting a 405 but was unsure of the heat and was worried about doing tile cleaning with less than a 1000psi. After you have fuel fired heat it would be hard to give up. Be nice not to always get propane.

12 flow

-20 below zero....

No problem making heat with my High Heat Butler....and there is no open door or window anywhere close to where we are cleaning....

Just seeing some bad information here so thought I would mention.
As the guy who lives in the coldest area of anyone on this forum. ... my at (2007) makes heat fast in the coldest of cold days. With its preheated water it wasn't much behind the fuel fired steamway/ el d's here.

There a difference between complete submersion into 110 deg and high pressure spray. Ive run the AT on a day when it was -5 degrees (a 2007 model) . It did get hot ATW, but it took the majority of the first job to get there. Not 90 seconds.

The 06 V I ran for a week, used to be Hales was horrible with heat. Would not even sustain 200 atw when it was 40 degress outside. Temp gauge on the truck was a constant 260-270.
