Well we did the job and it ended up being $485 including a $38 charge for being over 20 miles away. It is winter in Michigan and we were very happy to have that job plus they were thrilled with the work.

PS--Thanks for the kind offer to do the job, Brian, but we really need the work. If it were a warmer month I'd likely have sent it to you.
I am in the same boat , sort of.
My job was almost an hour away. 2 rooms only ., and not large. Carpet like new. But, master BR needed stretched.
Getting it ready for sale. Of course it is staged! All furniture still in place. Called agent, got my charge approved. While I was there they showed up to show the unit. Glad they did because they got to see what I had to do to perform the service. All the furniture shoved around, and the power stretcher set up.
Only my time and gas to get there. Can't really put it to them because they sell all the condos. Repeat customer.
They are the agent and builder of many, many very up;scale condo communities around town. Unfortunately most are on the opposite side of town. And take that long to get to. Usually I have a reasonable window of time, with wiggle room to do the work.

Oh, and what you want to know!! I charged $250.00 ..

Those that mentioned a higher minimum.
Does that mean that the first say 300 square feet is at a higher price (which is a surcharge) or just doing a larger job?

I do charge more when traveling longer distance or when I worked with a portable in high rises. It takes more time and it ain't my hobby.
If I am hungry for business, that may be different.

We have $175.00 minimum in our service area. $265.00 for our extended service area.

When extended we will ask them if they have or know anyone else that needs cleaning. If they can add to their job we revert back to standard rates. We are not trying to gouge anyone, just trying to make the trip worthwhile .

Isn't this the right time to take the chip of your already burdened shoulder?

If you spend more time (driving, working, restoration cleaning due to negligence etc. etc. and for you my friend- etc.) - It ain't gouging or penalizing. Just being fairly compensated for your extra time.

This isn't your hobby grasshopper. Right?
Or is it?

P.S. Pricing hack. At this rate, me thinks you better get a porty :winky:
