Started with a sharp wizard organizer then went to a lap top. I carry it inside my bag into the house. I own the program so no need for wifi. Few want an invoice so I hand write if requested. I don't trust the cloud, everything crashes regardless of the companies size. Plus in 25 years imagine the profit that's in my pocket versus paying for extra cellular and a cloud based service. The money saved easily paid for the 870.
What program is it that you can own and how does it make and store invoices?

It doesn't make or store invoices. It's a scheduling program by sharp. It's called day time organizer. I also have the desktop version of quick books. I am going to switch to a program which is intergrated with quick books so nO double entries. You can also use google calendars for scheduling, which is free. Definitely not going to a fee based cloud service.

Oh gotcha.....as an O/o I like to do my own scheduling. I don't know that I would ever pay for scheduling services, unless I was more that a 2 truck operation.
I just my iCal on the iPad for scheduling, and love it.

I've been running a laptop for at least a decade now.
I use it with Quicken, NOT wi-fi though, the service area here is lousy but getting better.
I use it in conjunction with a Canon Pixma portable printer.
I print out invoices on the spot, it has my banking details on the bottom of the invoice so people can pay immediately.
Commercial clients email at the end of the day from home.

Next financial year, (July), I WILL be going to a Samsung tablet wi-fi and still carry the Canon printer.
I also use Paypal to collect via card when reception is okay.

Trying to lighten the load on everything I have and carry.

A tablet would be the way to go as opposed to most laptop, unless maybe a smaller Ultra/Net Book, and would be easier to charge on the road with most using common higher amp micro-usb chargers.

Getting one from one of the major service providers makes Internet access a breeze.

A good hard case is essential if your going to use it everyday on the road.
