This has no doubt been discussed before but where is the best place to have the filter?(closer to the TM or closer to the wand) I currently have a 2" pool filter between the my 2.5" hose and the 2" lead hose. I need to replace it and need to decide if I should get a 2" or 2.5".

closest to the vac port on the TM, Shane

the farther from the vac source the more of a hose turbulence bottleneck it becomes IMO

We use a short piece of vac hose (appx 5ft) as the filter to TM connection .
then another short piece (appx 2ft) as a connector for 2" hose.
cause we only use 2.5 hose on runs over 100ft.
2.5 weight and bulk isn't worth the minimal (if any) gain on runs under 100ft, IMO
